Haw kins, Klamath Falls postmaster, said today. The one located at the depot was broken several weeks ago oy a truck, ana nas never been replaced. Hawkins said a new box was ordered immediately, but due to the metal shortage new boxes are extremely hard to get. He said the new box is ex pected to arrive any day but no definite date can be determined. Oct. 8 (PI A navy PBY bomber, return ing from the western Aleutians, crashed when the pilot attempt ed a landing at the naval air sta tion In bad weather last Wed nesday, killing eight of the IS navy men aboard, the 17th naval district headquarters announced. Six were killed Instantly, two died In the hospital later. The pilot, was one of the victims. IN JAIL BRAWL TULELAKE Jose Solorlo, about 50, Mexican, was in Klamath Valley hospital, Klam ath Falls, suffering from severe bruises and rib injuries as the result of a fracas which offi cers said took nlace In the city jail late Saturday night. Solorio was arrested on a charge of drunkenness and was placed with 12 others in the Jail, officers said. In the mean time a quarrel over the use of bunks and blankets ensued and when Chief of Police Frank G. Rhodes was in the act of plac ing another drunK in jail, he noticed Solorio on the floor, groaning. Rhodes was accom panied by State Highway Pa trolman Gerald Wilson and City Police Officer Tex Harris. Officers said it was necessary to pull their guns to quiet the men and force them to return to their bunks. Police held four men through out Sunday on an open charge and Monday released three of the quartet after, they said, a signed confession was obtained from Samuel Johnson, 25, who admitted beating the Mexican. No charge was placed against Johnson pending the outcome of Solorio's condition which hos pital authorities said late Mon day was good.
