SIX HERALD AND NEWS Fridiy, Oct. 5, 1945 KF CHURCHES JO OBSERVE COMMUNION The first Sunday in October, designated as World-Wide Com munion Sunday, will find pro tcstant churches of Klamath Falls participating in observ ance of the Sacrament of Holy Communion. The Rev. Howard F. Hutchlns, president of Klamath Falls Miiv fctorlul association, extends a special request for all church members to oe present ai meir respective churches for this service. The pastor of Immanuel Bap tist, the Rev. Charles J. Sund strom, announces an appropriate program for the occasion, with special music by the choir, and offers a warm welcome to all strangers in town to attend. Mrs. Stanley Gordh of Portland will be soloist. The subject of the morning sermon is "An Old World Be comes New. A lot of good music will be heard at evening worship services, with the pastor's family participating with vocal and instrumental selections. A "singspiration will follow, after which refresh ments will be served. Baptism The congregation of Peace Memorial Presbyterian church will meet in Altamont junior high school, S. 6th and Summers lane, to observe communion services. New members will be received into the church and the Sacrament of Baptism will be administered. Hugh T. Cramblitt and Mrs. Mitchelmore, representing the church here. Mrs. Meeker was elected sec retary of literature. Sunday Observance The Rev. Godfrey Matthew, minister at Community Con gregational church, announces that his church will unite in ob servance of Communion Sunday with new members received at a candlelight service at 7:30 p. m. Promotion day will be ob served at 9:45 a. m., with a special program to which all parents arc cordially invited. At the 11 o'clock morning serv ice, Athena Lampropulos will play the prelude on her violin; Sharon Moore, soprano soloist, will sing and the junior choir will sing the offeratory anthem. The pastor's topic will be, "1 Call You Not Servants, but Friends." Presbyterian, Congregational and Methodist churches of the city are co-operating in a scries of seven Bible studies under the general title of "How the Bible Grew Up." First of the series will be conducted by the Rev. Godfrey Matthews at the Presby terian church, October 9, at 7:30 d. m. - Sunday school teachers. young peoples workers, and any others interested are invited to attend. Promotion Day Promotion day will be ob served this Sunday at First Christian church with Bertrand E. Peterson, minister of the Church of the Nazarene, conduct ing the recognition service at 10 a. m. Rally day will be held October 14. Cradle roll and nursery de partments will have a prom inent part in the program under the leadership of Mrs. Harvey Munsell. Motion pictures will be taken of the various classes and shown at a later date. Painting and refinishing of the class rooms and assembly room is underway and this week the nursery room equipment was painted by Mrs. Munsell, Mrs. Gertrude Pruitt and Dorothy Uhlig. The Rev. Last week the annual harvest festival was observed and the hall was gay with autumn vines and leaves for the occasion. Six young Salvation Army rc- colorful fall foliage, cornstalks, emits decorated the hull, using pumpkins, vegetables and fruits to carry out the harvest theme. Junior and senior songsters ren dered appropriate vocal selec tions for the occasion, which wax climaxed, by the address given by Lt. Col. James Dee.
