This will represent, tho de pnrtnient said, approximately 70 per cent of the peak strength of the medical corps at V-E Day. By next July 1, the overall strength of the army will be cut to 2,800,000. Under a new discharge system, KI.000 physicians, 25,000 nurses, 3500 dentists and a "large num ber" of other medical depart ment officers will be returned to civilian life by January 1.
