"Peace" wos the theme of the mcotlng and musical numbers, devotlonals and prayers were on this subject. Mra. Curl Jensen led the devotional hour "Peace und Friendship." Small Karen and Ty Keller with their mother, Mrs. Lynn Keller, at the piano, sang several numbers. Mrs. Hugh Bronson had the yearbook of prayer, Mrs. S. F. Terry played tho piano for the musical numbers, and Mrs. Ray A I kens reviewed the book, "Mama's Bank Account." SEATTLE PETITION, SEATTLE, Sept. 8 (P)Na tlonnl civil aeronautics board officials have received Seattle's petition to intervene with the CAB In protest against by-passing the Pacific Northwest in air lines to Alaska and the Orient, Christy Thomas, executive vice president of the Seattle cham ber of commerce, said yester day. Thomas said Senator War ren Magnuson had talked to L. Welch Pogue. CAB chairman, and urged him to accept the petition. HERE TO ENTER III MEET IT! LEAVE FDR CIA September 9 will be the last Sunday that the Rev. Albert L. Dwight will speak before the congregation of First Covenant church. He and Mrs. Dwight will soon leave for China to con duct missionary work under the Covenant board. No announcement has been made regarding a new pastor for the church. The Dwights first went to China in 1915. After the inva sion of Japanese forces, Mrs. Dwight and children remamcd in the United States, while the Rev. Mr. Dwight returned to carry on missionary work. He was a prisoner of war of Japan, and returned to this country on the exchange ship Gripsholm in 1942. The Rev. Mr. Dwight will speak on 'The Indispensable Christ" at Sunday morning serv ices, and "The Path of Full Sal vation" in the evening. He will leave Klamath Falls immediate ly after the services, to prepare for his trip to China. He has served as pastor of the church here for the past two years. i Local Physician Receives Discharge Major Nell F. Black, Klam ath Falls physician and surgeon, arrived home today with a dis charge, from the U. S. army. Dr. Black said he will take a refresher course at the Uni versity of Oregon medical school and will re-open his of fice here within a short time. The Klamath man saw 38 months service with the army air force, and was group sur geon with the 445th bomber group in England and on the continent. He has recently been at Fort Dix. . Five marines and a navy hos pital corpsmun from the Marine tJurrackg will take part in a rougn water swimming meet at La Jolla, Calif., tomorrow after noon. This meet is sanctioned by the Southern Pacific associa tion of the AAU and is open to recognized amateur swimmers, both civilian and service person nel. The Klamath Falls entrants are 1st Lt. Rob Fry, Cpl. John Sweet. Cpl. Caldwell Morgan, PFC Roland Fischer, PFC Wl told Curlanls and PhM 1c Reno Rapagnani. Kapagnani won a Golden Gate swimming event of this type last year, and his wife, a woman marine and amateur swimming champion, will also participate at La Jolla. The swimmers will cover a three-quarter mile triangular course, starting on the beach in front of the La Jolla Beach and Tennis club and finishing on the beach at La Jolla cove. All civilian swimmers enter ing this event must present AAU credentials, but that require ment Is waived for members of the armed forces.
