Steppe, who is in charge of the Scott creek camp employing Mexicans, was In Klamath Falls Wednesday on business. He said that work is progressing along the west side of The Dalles-California highway at the rate of one-half to three-quarters of a mile per day. "The laborers are a fire-eating crew," Steppe said. "They helped suppress three fires since they have been at Scott creek camp, and are to be commended on their cooperation and enthus iasm In fire fighting." The forestry service hopes to run the camp through Septem ber according to John Sarglnson, district ranger, although the Mexicans would normally be re turned to harvest work at that time.
