Dlmbat takes care of sales and Gluth supervises the service department. All three men have purchased home In Klamath Falls and moved their families here from Portland. Dimbnt and Gluth were with an automobile con cern there for 16 years before becoming partners In their own business In Klamath Falls. Fire Com pony To Burn Weeds On Lots 'TULELAKE Weed covered lots In the city limits are being burned free ot charge to proper ty owners by the Tulelake fire department. Work on the clean up program started Thursday following a meeting of the de partment -Wednesday night. Three city fires and four rural fires were reported or July with no serious blazes during the period. The Merrill fire department has been invited to a social eve ning on the next regular meet ing date, September 19. Officers of the Tulelake de partment are Bruce Brickell, chief; Burris Short, president; Jerry Van Buskirk, vice presi dent; D. L. Thomas, secretary and treasurer. Linfield College To Study Ozone Uses McMINNVILLE, Aug. 24 (P) A special research project is being carried out by ' Linfield college, the only small school awarded a Bonneville Power ad ministration grant. The problem water treats ment by ozone and uses of ozone is one of several fi nanced by the federal govern ment to obtain information on uses of hydroelectric power. ASSOCIATE PROF CORVALLIS. Ida., died re cently after an illness of several weeks. Mrs. Lawrence was the wife of E. P. Lawrence, who was pastor of the First Presbyterian church here from 1917 to 1921. Mrs. Lawrence had been ill for several years with a heart con dition. She Is survived by her husband, E. P. Lawrence of 1723 Dearborn, Caldwell, Ida., three daughters and two sons. BERLIN CONDUCTOR SNOT B! OUTPOST BERLIN, Aug. 24 VP) Leo Borchard, conductor of the Ber lin Philharmonic orchestra, was shot to death shortly before mid night when his automobile failed to heed an American out post's command to halt. Three soldiers on duty shout ed and waved flashlights, but the 55-ycar-old conductor's car sped on. One bullet struck Borchard in the head. Another man and a woman in the car were not in jured. The Berlin Philharmonic or chestra, under the direction of Borchard, has been giving con certs for allied troops in Berlin. Borchard's sister, Mrs. Margar ita de Kudriafzev, who was the wife of a Russian for many years, served as a telephone operator at the American em bassy here before the war.
