Hankins Arriyes
In United States
Pvt. George G. Hankini has
arrived in the United States on
the USS Le June from the Euro
pean theater (or a 30-day fur
lough with his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. E. F. Hankins, of Orland,
Calif. He entered the service
from Klamath Falls in October,
1942. Hankins hns received the
good conduct medal, the ETO
ribbon with two Bronze Stars
for participation In battles in
Germany, Hankins will report
back to Camp Bcnlo before be
ing sent to Kentucky for further
training.

Expected lo arrive in Portland
about Thursday after returning
to this country from Germany is
Captain Alfred B. Castcl Jr., son
of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred B. Castel
of Fort Klomath. His wife lives
at the Evons apartments in
Klamath falls.
Captain Castel has been with
the tun air lorce and has com
pleted 65 missions. He holds
the Air Medal with 11 Oak Leaf
Clusters, the Silver Star, and the
UJ-C. . .
Ho was home from Europe on
a leave at Christmas time this
last year and then returned
overseas to Germany. He first
went overseas in March, 1944.

is now here with his parents.
Ward graduated from Klam
ath Union high school and is a

rier. He served three years in
the navy and saw action in both
the South Pacific and European

Elks Picnic
At Gravel Pit
Several hundred Elks and
their families attended a picnic
sponsored by the lodge yester
day at the gravel pit park near
Fort Klamath.
A picnic lunch, games and
races for the youngsters, and a
roftball tournament, were fea
