SPRINGFIELD, Ore., July 23 Mi The strike-bound bpring field Plywood plant remained closed here today following a walkout of AFL sympathizers during the night shift Thursday. There was no otnciat mcuca tion as to when the plant, pro' ducing 8,000,000 board feet of war material mommy, woum resume operation. Ninety-nine CIO workers reported to work this morning, and when the company decided against at tempting to operate with an in adequate crew, the men report ed to the U. S. employment of fice for unemployment compensation. ; There was a strong rumor here today that the government would order the U. S. navy to take control of the plant either Tuesday or Wednesday assur ing that all workers, regardless ot union affiliation, would re turn to work. , Should the navy or army take control, the plant would still be operated by the same manage ment, the company would still , receive the profits but the CIO union men would not be re quired to pay their regular CIO dues as long as operation was under government control. Nurse Vacations At Camp Tulelake 1 Caucasian Cadet Nurse Jean- ette King thinks nothing of spending ner vacation in a Jap anese relocation camp. Miss King, who is in training at the Mother Cabrini Memorial hospital in Chicago, visited re cently with Mae Michiye Kawai st the Tulelake relocation cen ter. Miss Kawai has visited the King home in Chicago, so she in turn invited her to the Kawai home at the colony. Both girls reported a wonderful time. Flashes of Life REPORTS TO SEATTLE MAUN Ensign Carl Coul son, 21, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Coulson, has reported for a temporary assignment in Seat tle after spending a leave here with his parents. He has com pleted his training at Harvard university, where he studied for three months, and anticipates sea duty in the near future. He is a graduate of the Tulelake high school. SUBTLE REMINDER SALEM. Ore.. July 23 (fP) State Forester Nels Rogers had been directing crews vainly try ing to block the worst war-time wrest lire in tins state. He returned to his home and found h i s neighbor's house ablaze. Rogers offered to help fight the flames but a fireman refused his aid with this cutting re mark: "We've got this one under control." FLOODED DRY NORTH KANSAS CITY, July 23 It was awfully dry dur ing the flood here but now that it's over there's plenty of water for the citizenry.
