One bolt of lightning followed by a terrific clap of thunder caused damage to the Southern Pacific tele phones in the section foreman's and signal maintainors nouses. Dorothy Dalil, telegraph oper ator here, received a shock while on duty when the lightning fol lowed the wires to the telegraph office. Among summer colonists who have opened their homes here are Mrs. Maxwell and children, Klamath Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Otto Stein, Portland; Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Moody, Kugene; and Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Spraguc, Sweet .Home. Mr. and Mrs. Bennle Benson and family attended a reunion of the Charles Hcbert family at Cultcs lake recently. All seven daughters of the Hcbert family with their husbands and chil dren were there. The son, PFC Glenn Hcbert, is in the South Pacific. Mrs. Tony Eames of Portland is here with her two small sons, occupying the summer home of her parents, Judge and Mrs, Lucas. Word has been received from PFC. Roland L. Porter that he is now stationed in Greenland. He states that he was flown from England to Greenland where he will assist in the installation of a radio station. The climate, he reports, is much the same as Klamath county. He states that the sun barely sets behind the mountain there, and were it not for their being surrounded by mountains it would not set at all. Lt. and Mrs. Keene stopped at Summit lodge while en route from Massachusetts, where Lt. Keene had been stationed, to their home in Palo Alto. Capt and Mrs. Thomas Hcn sler called on friends at Cascade Summit. Capt. Hensler has Just returned from Europe where he was with the air corps in Italy. He was a former Crescent Lake teacher. Mr. and Mrs. P. J. Barnard, Alameda, spent a week at Sum mit lodge. Barnard is an of ficial of the Southern Pacific company with headquarters In San Francisco. While hero he enjoyed the good fishing. Mrs. Jack Tomlinson and son, Craig, Oakridge, have been visit ing at the R. L. Porter home this week. The Tomlinsons arc former Cascade Summit resi dents. They will soon move to Eugene where they have bought a home. Arthur Parsons, civil engineer for the Southern Pacific com pany, has been in Cascade Sum mit doing surveying for the company, All of the cabins at Summit lodge have been filled to capacity all summer. The dining room 01 the lodge has not been opened but the rooms have been well filled. Tax Leyy Up For Election Again LAKEVIEW The town coun cil moved at their meeting Tues day night to again place before the people of the city at the No vember 6 general city election the question of a tax levy for construction of paved streets within the city limits. The council believes that If streets are to be paved In Lake view, now is to time to lay away money for the project. By issuing a tax levy of 24 mills, for a three-year period, the necessary amount will be col lected by the time construction of the paved streets takes place.
