Keno Highway Community
Given Name Of "Pioneer"
K "Pioneer" Is the name unof
ficially given today to the com
munity lying along the Ashland
highway between Keno and
Weyerhaeuser.
, Mn. Vera Clemmens Is the
correspondent of The Herald
and News for that area, and it
iVn of Vint KtifftrAtinn the name
was applied to it. Many of the
pioneer residents of this area
made their home there in early
days, on such places as the R. A.
Emmitt property, the O. A.
Stearns' farm, and the Hiram
Murdoch place.
Tn recent years, the commun
ity has developed rapidly, with
several new homes rising there.

with her children, Toby and
Darleen, have gone to Clayton,
Wash., to ' visit Mr. Wilson's
mother. Mrs. Dessie Mesner has

E. Hurlbut is spending his at
home putting up his hay.
Haying has begun with most
of the farmers along Jveno high
way, with the Ralph Johnston.
John Lily, Kerns brothers and
W. L. Frain ranches in full
swing. .
! Word has been received by the
Z'arosinski family that their son,
John, who has been stationed in
England for some time will be
home soon. John is serving in
tie navy.

resident of this community who
now resides at Chiloquin, visited

day. She was accompanied by
her son-in-law and daughter, Mr.
and Mrs. Cherry, who were re
cently married.

Falls, and Mr. and Mrs. C. L.

Hens' home Sunday afternoon.
Mrs. N. Anderson has a new
grandson of this week, born to
Mr. and Mrs. Merle Anderson of
Keno. The boy has been named

son and son arrived Monday eve
ning from McMinnville, Ore., to
rnd Donelson's vacation at the
L. Frain and T. G. Clemmens'
ranches. Donelson is the grand
son of the Frains. His son is the
ohly great grandson of theirs, so
their visit to this community was
"welcome one. Donelson is the
son of Mrs. Clemmens. They re
turned to McMinnville on Fri
day. H. H.- Van Valkenburg. Ash
land, a former pioneer of this
community, was a visitor at the
Colwell brothers' ranch on Fri
day. Mr. Van. as he is better
known, sold his holdings here

this community;
A get-together dinner was
held last Sunday- at the M. H.
Parsons' home. The following

that Harlan Prough is now able
to sit up some after undergoing
a major - operation some time

surgery at the medical clinic in
Klamath Falls Wednesday.
