June 15. 194S 0D E 0 PLANS SHAPING UP FOB HOLIDAY Rodeo plans are rapidly pro gressing for the grand four-day wild west celebration which will get off to the official start with la dance at the Klamath armory, Saturday night, June 30. I Events at the fairgrounds will 'commence Sunday, July 1, with the grand entry ride of the queen and her royal court, start ing at 1:30 p. m. Chaperones Mrs. Audrey Smith and Maxine Cameron will ride with Queen Blanche 'Schonchln and her five prin "cesses, Beverly Wampler, Lora iCross, Gloria Jean Saunders, Ginger A. Thomas and Jean 'Protsman. . The marine corps mounted fire patrol will ride Sunday tfternoon also with "Sheriffs' Posses and Medford Saddle club ladies. The program will last approximately until 5 p. m. each day. , Monday the regular rodeo 'events will follow the grand entry ride and drill teams. Tues iday the same program will be (followed with a rodeo dance .in the evening at the Klamath armory. ' Wednesday, the" Fourth of t July, will brine events to grand climax, commencing with parade which will start at 10 a. m. at the beginning of Main street and traverse the length of the street to break up under -the underpass. The parade, in ; charge of Marshall Cornett,-will 'feature the marine corps march :lng in force. Klamath faherilf ..Posse, and posse clubs from out- "lying districts. Saddle clubs and : all civic organizations. The navy .air base and Camp Tulelake i have also been invited to par- : Ucipate. . The quota of $80,000 set for the district is still about $13,000 short. Bingo games, and musical at tractions helped swell the sales. Included in the program were the Rhythm Stewards from the naval air station; two small tap dancers, Claudette Shuck of Merrill, and Diane Hincs of Tulelake. Vocal solos were presented by Patricia Brown and Lloyd Rauw. both of Klamath Falls. The Merrill accoruion kids, with Mervyne Shuck, Jimmy Shuck, Ronnie Trotman and Donald Bowman squeezed a gay rhythm from their music boxes, while John Sandmeyer of Klamath Falls acted as emcee, and R. D. Rakestraw, also of Klamath Falls took charge of the bond booth. Mrs. Marjorle Hodges was chosen queen of the bond show and presented with two $25 bonds. Other contestants, Mrs. Melissa Blake and Mrs. Mildred Poe, were presented with one $25 bond each. Each of the ladies, wives of servicemen overseas, was presented with a corsage by E. T. Crawford, Merrill. Mrs. Rose Poole, chairman of the 7th War Loan bond drive for Klamath county spoke on the necessity of buying bonds to carry on the warfare against the japs and for future security.
