Spraying with slnox and dust ing by pluno has been used throughout Iho area to stop the advance of tho weed in crop acres, but tho season Is too far advanced now for further ef fectiveness. Tho spray mixture is usually prepared In tlio curly spring and used to best effect commencing about May 25 through to June 18, when tho mustard Is at the four to seven leaf stage of growth. If used on warm humid days the method is about 100 Ker cent effective. Crops may e slightly scorched by tho spray and growth retarded from five to seven days. The mixture is prepared with ten pounds iuu gal one gallon of slnox. of amonium sulphate and gallons of water. Eighty ions oi mix win supply an aero. Sprayed from a 1200 gallon tank, mounted on caterpillar tracks, with a boom or pipe across the front of the tractor, supported with cables with spray ncrzles, the mixture can spray a SO foot strip at one time. Acres close to or bordered by irrigation ditches are the most easily treated by the spray method. When the water has to bo hauled a great distance, work becomes expensive, and is de layed. : Some crop dusting from air planes has showed good results, growers state, but quite often too it hag proven inadequate, and most growers prefer the spray method. Dusting by air is much more convenient, and it Is hoped to be used exclusively eventually. At the present time, however. It Is still rather In the experimental stage of develop ment. If mustard Is kept down each year by control methods it is eventually wiped out farmers agrco. The program is a long- Men, Women! Old at 40,50,60! WantPep? Want to Feel Years Younger?
