The groom recently returned to this country on a 20-day leave from the South Pacific. Mrs. Smith plans to remain in Klamath Falls for the duration. Kennell-Ellis. Margie Marie' Brown' Bride Of Sunday ' TULELAKE A June bride of Sunday, June 3, was Margie Marie Brown, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Brown of Tulelake, who exchanged vows at the First Presbyterian church in Klam ath Falls with Corporal Sylvester O. Francisco, United States marine corps, son of Mr, and Mrs. Lamont Francisco of Tulsa, Okla. . . - The candlelight ceremony was read at- 3:30 in the afternoon by' the Reverend P. C. Alderson, pastor of the Seventh Day Ad venlist church in Klamath Falls. The church was decorated with largo arrangements of yellow tulips, bridal wreath and can delabra amid a setting of palms, Immediately preceding the cere mony Patsio Brown sans "O Promise Me" and "I Love You Truly," and Pharmacist Charles Barry sang "At Dawning." The two vocalists were accompanied by Mrs. Elbcdt . Veatch at the organ. The bride, given in marriage by her father, chose a wedding gown of white marquisette with a high neckline and long sleeves. Her fingertip veil was caught with a halo of seed pearls, and bordered with a ruffle of lace from the wedding gown of her maternal grand mother, which she wore B years ago. Her bridal bouquet was of talisman . rosebuds with white satin streamers. Dorothea Brown was maid of honor for her sister, and wore a floor length dress of blue crepe. Her arm bouquet was of pink and white carnations, and she wore a circlet of white carnations in her hair. The three bridesmaids, Mary Jean Jones and Mrs. Jean Bond of Tulelake, and June Herrold of Klamath Falls, were attired in identical dresses of pink net over taffeta, and their bouquets were fashioned of lav ender sweet peas. Sergeant Major Joseph Sharp, United States marine corps, stood as best man for the groom, and ushers included SSgt. Clayton L. Black, TSgt. R. E. Drennen and PFC J. C. Priddy, all of the Marine Bar racks. For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Brown wore a pale green suit with pink accessories and corsage of pink carnations. Mrs. Francisco, mother of the groom, chose a black suit with white accessories and a gardenia corsage. The newlyweds received their guess in the church parlors, af ter which a reception was held at the home of the bride's pa ternal grandparents, Mr, and Mrs. B. E. Brown of 704 North Ninth in Klamath Falls. A thrcc-ticred - wedding cake in white and silver and topped with a bride and groom wasj cut by Corporal Francisco and his bride, after which the four members of the bridal party served the confection to the 75 suests. The table was covered with a gold cloth and tall. white toners, and pouring were Mrs. Eldon Kaylor and Mrs. Buford Kaylor, cousins of the bride. Vocal selections were presented by Mrs. P. C. Anderson and her lU-ycar-oid aaugnier, .uaroara. For going . away, Mrs. Fran cisco chose a wool suit of aqua blue with white . accessories. She is a graduate of the Tule lake high school with the class of 1041, later attending Walla Walla State college where she majored in dietetics. ' She was affiliated with the. The bride,' given in marriage by her father, wore a full length dress of white with a fingertip veil, and ' carried - a bouquet of white carnations. Cecelia Flocchini was the maid of honor, and chose a formal of light blue taffeta with a bou quet of pink carnations. Ser geant Hal Calhoun, United States marine corps, stood as best man, and Father Beard of ficiated at the simple ceremony. Following the wedding, a re ception was held at the home of the bride's parents on 2318 California avenue. The bride and groom cut their three- tiered wedding cake,, which- was later served to a few close friends and relatives. ' . ryecome Party The bachelor officers Quarters of the Klamattrnaval air station was the scene of a welcome party for Commander and Mrs. Phil L. Haynes on Friday eve ning, June 8. Guests enjoyed dancing to music furnished by the marine band, and a buffet supper was served at 10 o'clock. Commander Havnes arrived in Klamath Falls on May 0. from the Hawaiian Islands to assume duties as commanding officer of the station, replacing Commander Darron, who is now attached to the naval auxiliary air field at Areata. California. Informal Recital The home of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Mushen on Del Moro street was the scene of an informal re cital on Friday evening, June 8, at 6 o'clock, when ten of Mrs. Mushen's piano pupils, most of them young children, presented a musical- program for their par ents. The rooms of the Mushen home were decorated with ar rangements if lilacs, tulips, iris andbrldalwreath. ' Following the recital, which was the first for most of those taking part, refreshments were served to the guests. An attractive floral arrangement centered the refreshment table which was flanked on either side by tall tapers, and also held a bridal figurine and a wedding cake, topped with the names Jack and Grace. Miss Liskey was also one of 20 art majors to receive recognition for her work in that field at the annual com mencement on May 29. Her picture appeared with a group of art students in a recent issue of Life magazine on Stephens. Kennell-Elli. These informal parties are quite In keeping with the friend ly spirit of Sojourners, whose purpose it is . to meet and greet newcomers who, may be here for only a short while, or who may have come to make Klamath Falls their home. This marks the eighth year since Sojourners was organized in. this city.- it -is sponsored bv the chamber of commerce. while- the management of the Willard hotel has graciously Drovided a place for the regu lar-meetings and social gatherings.- : Carried quite regularly in this column are notices to the effect that newcomers are wel comed at Sojourners, and whether or not they are con tacted by a member of the club, they are cordially invited to come if they wish. After at tending three meetings, a mem bership cara is given, ana once a Sojourner, always a Sojourn er. Since the club is purely a social organization, only a small fee is collected upon register ing at each meeting. This goes into a fund for cards, flowers, necessary supplies, or for some social function. Picnics, teas, and dances are given at inter vals to which each member may invite several guests, and these affairs are eagerly antici pated by all concerned. Personalities in the club have changed many times during the past eight years, as from the small group of twelve members, the club grew to well over one hundred before the war since that time there have been many new faces, but due to. changing war conditions, people do not stay permanently in one place. Nevertheless, there has always been the nucleus of a thriving club' with the intent and pur pose of the original club still intact. . Officers a r e elected twice yearly, and those to be installed on Wednesday are Mrs. Andre Lambert, president; Mrs. R. G. Fisher, vice president; Mrs. C. B. Larkin, secretary; Mrs. W. R. Petty, treasurer. The retiring officers include Mrs. Byron Friedman, presi dent; Mrs. W. B. Yates, vice president; Mrs. Andre Lambert, secretary; Mrs. . Louis Sauer, treasurer. .
