Irrigation water to homo guidons may be applied in one or sovurul ways. Sprinkl ing Is probubly mora In use than any other mcthud because It Is easier to apply water in this way but it Is not always tha best mothod. Others may have thulr gurden soils gnulnd so that shallow irrigation fills may be made alongside the rows and the wnler runs down the Irrigation rills. Still others use the so-called soil soaker or porous canvas hose, which al lows the water to ooze out and souk into the soil. This soil soaker has many advantages If it Is watched and moved to an other location when tho soil becomes wet to a depth of six Inches or a little more. One ad vantage Is that you get uniform distribution of the water along tho rows and no washing of the soil. Still others In small gardens put porus sacks over the end of an open hose and sprcud the water between the rows in this manner by frequently moving the hosa to relrrlgate sections of the garden. Tho sock over tha end of the open hose pre vents washing of the soil by breaking the force of the water as it comes from tha hose. A sack or a piece of canvas may WEEKEND RIDE SET FOR YREKA TRIP A weekond ride which will take a group to Yreka, Calif., is slated May 30. Pfeffcrlc, of IS61 Gary, has sent a question to this column which I will at tempt to onswer. Generally speaking, In most of the areas around Klamath Falls it is safe to set out tomato plants about tho first of June, provided they are kept under hot caps or pro tected from frost In some other way until about the 18th of June. Now I have a question: What do you peoplo think about prun ing tomato 'plants, or pulling off tho first blossoms? How deep should tomato plants be trans placed?
