Garbage Dumping In
Vacant Loti Reported
Dumping garbage In vacant
lots has become a major problem
for the city recently. Some In
dividual have been convicted
for this action, and others will
be, according to tho city building
inspector, Many have cleaned
up the refuse rather than face
court fines. Names of people
have been obtained, and each
one found In the act of dumping
frb,ft" i ,ny Dlace ot,W than
the city dump, must face the pen
alties of the law.
The presence of such refuse
decreases the value of the prop
erty especially for building pur.
poses, and destroys the view of
others around It. An appeal is
being made to the individuals'
sense of fairness In this problem,
because It Is only they who can
help,

BOARD LEADER
With many returning service
wen entering the labor market
for the first time, and with stu
dents gotting Jobs In the coming
holidays, Howard J. Nelson,
mnnager of the Klamath Falls
office of tho social security board
advised all workers "to show
their social security account card
to every employer for whom
they work.
This Is essential to protect the
worker's wage record, which is
maintained under his name and
numbor for his future monthly
Insurance benefits, Nelson point
ed out. For example, there are
approximately 875,000 Smiths
on tho social security board's
records and, therefore, there are
approximately 875.000 accounts
under the name of Smith. It Is
Important that no two Smith
nave the same number,
In atressing this point of one
number for a worker's lifetime,
Nelson said that employers are
required to report each work
er s wages, under both his name
and number to the government
every three months. Then these
wages are credited by the social
security board on each worker's
Individual ledger sheet, under
both his name and number.

Absent-Mindedness
Loses Cash, Check
PORTLAND, May 10 M)
Cursed with absent-mindedness,
Everott.S. Bailey today mourned
the loss of $600 cash and a 3319
check,
He watched blithely while
movers hauled hla bed and mat
tress away to be shipped to his
new Oklahoma home. Later, a
thought struck him and he hur
riedly phoned police.
But somebody else had found
the money, hidden in the mat
tress several weeks earlier.
