' Mr. and Mrs. Everett Guthrie of 827 Mitchell street In Klam ath Falls announced the engage ment of their daughter, La Raync, to Corporal Dennis W. Lilly of the United States marine corps on Tuesday eve ning at their home. Tho rooms of the Guthrie homo were attractively decor ated with spring flowers, and Cupid, himself, was the center of attraction at one table, ar ranged within a circle of flow ers and candles. Other tables " were arranged with centerpieces consisting of dainty vases of sweet peas In pastel shades. Narrow ribbons ot corresponding colors joined the centerpieces with each place card. Pink hearts were scat tered about on tho table, and miniature ring boxes containing hearts upon which were printed the names of Dennis and La Rayne told of the betrothal. Corporal Lilly's home is In Cincinnati, Ohio, but at the present time, he is stationed at the local Marine Barracks. Miss Guthrie Is a graduate of Klamath Union high school, and is on activo member of the younger set. May 18 has been set as the date for the wedding. ' The Reverend Brownrick of the First Christian church performed the simple ceremony which was read before a few relatives of the . young couple. i. Mrs. Mayes Chose a pastel blue dress;with black accessories with a double ' corsage 'of gardenias. Following the wedding, a small reception was held at the Foster home, after, which the bride and groom left for a wedding trip to the north. Mr. Mayes is now at Camp Sam- Houston in Texas where he is awaiting reassign ment to a base on the Pacific coast at which time Mrs. Mayes will join, her husband. The bride is a graduate of Klamath Union high school with tne class of l44, and the groom is a veteran of "Oregon's Own" 41st division. Guderian. - Of interest to his many friends in Klamath Falls is a report given in the Ocala Ban ner of Florida concerning the marriage of Cpl. William Colby Chambers,- son of the late. Mr. and Mrs. James B. Chambers of Klamath Falls, and Audrey Mor timer of ucala. The young couple exchanged vows in the . Blessed Trinity church, with" the Reverend Dan iel C. Hegarty officiating. Floral decorations, on the altar includ ed white gladioli and tall light ed tapers, The bride, given in marriage by her father, chose a wedding gown with a short train, and her off-the-face veil fell from a coronet of seed pearls. She carried a large arm bouquet of Easter lilies, and her only ornament- was a hand carved cameo lavaliere which was a gift of the .groom, A wedding breakfast was held at the Marion hotel in the Flor ida city, at which time friends and relatives arrived to greet the newlyweds. Mrs. Chambers was born -in Chicago, but rhoved-to Ocala as a child, and has. been active in civic work there. Cpl. .Chambers was .stationed . at the Orlando airbase for a year, prior to re porting for overseas duty, and has recently returned after 27 months of service in Africa, Sicily and Italy. He reported on - April 9 to Miami for re assignment. 5 5 Victory Tourney Mrs. George Merryman St. and Mrs. E. M. Raymond were the winners of . the "grab bag" tournament which was held at Reames Golf and Country club on Friday of last week, A nosebag lunch was enjoyed by. the women present, after which four tables of bridge were in play. Mrs. John Shaw received the, guest prize for the after noon. Hostesses for the day were Mrs. C. A. Lundy. Mrs. E. M. Raymond, Mrs. Paul Farrens, Mrs. Carl Huson and Mrs. John Selby. Friday, May 4; featured a "victory" tournament, with Mrs. B. L. Hardenbrook, Mrs. Herbert E. Hauger, Mrs. Roy D. Decorations in k aping with May Day were used about the large room, and the buffet - supper was served at B o'clock by members of the wom en's auxiliary.
