Man to Plead Guilty
Of Poisoning Wife
OREGON CITY, AprU 24 (VP)
Willmer Brinkhoff, 29, former
Mount Pleasant chicken rancher,
will plead guilty to a charge of
second degree murder in the
paison death of his wife, District
Attorney Stanley Mitchell told
circuit court here.
' After Brinkhoff waived grand
jury hearing, the case was post
poned until Thursday.
The wife, Mrs. Wilma Lenora
Brinkhoff, 27, died here last
July. An autopsy showed poi
son. .
Brinkhoff, who had been
working in Sacramento, Calif.,
for several months, was returned
here last Wednesday on another
charge, forgery, .

Storage Asked
Fred Heilbronner was present
at the meeting and asked permis
sion to store slabs on five vacant
lots on Broad.. He was advised
by the council that he must file
a petition as that zone is under
local option.
May Taylor, 510 N. 7th, ap
peared at the meeting and asked
permission to construct two
double garages with apartments
above on property on N. 7th.
The request was referred to
A. W. Downs, city building in
spector. Councilman John Keller
moved to adjourn until Monday
at 4 p. m. It was seconded by
Landry and unanimously passed.
The meeting will be held in or
der to pass the resolutions on
the sewer and city-county jail
and for the first and second read
ing of ordinances on the same
projects. There will be no regu
lar meeting of the council since
it will be the fifth Monday of
the month.
Two Men Held On
Robbery Charges
PORTLAND, April 24 (VP)
Two men tracked down within
nine nours were held in jail to
day on charges of holding up the
owner of a Portland drug store
and fleeing with cash and $200
worth of narcotics.
Federal narcotics agents sur
prised Donald Carroll Bellinger,
27, taxicab driver, in his home,
where they recovered narcotics
and money.
James Mason, 33, of Alberta,
Canada, who fled at the agents'
approach, was arrested a few
hours later by Portland police.
Mason and his wife, suitcases
loaded, were entering a taxicab
in another part of the city. Po
lice said he was a former inmate
of Oregon state penitentiary.
About $200 in cash was re
covered but the druggist, George
Goss, set his loss as $600. The
drug store was robbed early yes

Tax Adjustments May
Come After V-E Day
WASHINGTON. April 24 UP)
Chairman Doughton (D-N. C.) of
the house ways and means com
mittee expressed hope today of
some "tax adjustments rigni
after V-E day."
Doughton talked taxes with
reporters after a White House
call on President Truman, but
said his discussion with the presi
dent did not relate to that sub
ject or to other legislation.
"It was just a personal, cour
tesy call," the 81-year-old North
Carolinian told newsmen.

OPA Limits Farm
Slaughtering
PORTLAND, April 24 P)
In an effort to boost livestock
receipts in federally - inspected
plants, the OPA today had limit
ed farm slaughtering for sale to
butchers in the Portland district.
The limit for the remaining
quarters of the year was set at
the amount of dressed meat
sold in the first quarter. Farm
ers who did not slaughter in
1944 may market up to 400
pounds if they register with the
OPA.
