Reames Resemble Pool Table If you want sufficient provocation to gnash your teeth and pull the hair out of your head in huge chunks, take a flyer at putting on the greens at Reames golf course in their present condition. Might now they are as bard as a rock from luck of molHlurd and It Is practically impossible to hold a pitch shot on the carpet no matter how much reverse English is put on the ball. If your approach shot should happen to light directly on the green you con bet it won't be thcro long, as the ball runs like a scared rabbit and no amount of verbal cajoling will hold tho pellet where It belongs It Just doesn't scorn to core. If your ball lies on the green In such a po sition that It Is necessary for you to putt down hill you might as well throw in the towel. The chances arc six, two, and even that you won't ,.f .Inum In l.u thnn thrne nutts as the old apple will keep rolling Interminably. Like old man river, it just keeps rolling along. . .. Occasionally someone will can a long one, but It is not often. Wo wcro playing in a foursome Wednesday with "Moon" Mullis, Hill Brnlton and Dr. John Morriman. John plopped in a beauty of a putt on the first holo and "Moon" was successful with, a long one, but for the most part tho putting was spotty. Wo freely admit that we were the worst offender on the three-putt spree and it was quite possibly due to our lack of ability, but the general feeling among the golfing clan at Reames is that the greens are Just too darn fast. ' This is certainly not intended as a condemnation of the Rrecn keepers, but let's do have some water. Doggone it! Won't that ball ever stop rolling? Klamath Marines To Fight Again ' tflnmnth Falls maraudinS marines. Charley Harris, Johnny Gatex and Lito Perez will engage in another fistic encounter it Port hind Tuesday nlgnt. Harris will swap leather with JerryBrown, Gates will mix it up with ''Powdcr'r Proctor, and Perez will slug it out with Le- f0y Thliw Hirr leather throwers cmerccd victorious in bouts in Portland last time out and City of Roses fight fans predict big things for the fighting LeatncrnccKs. We know little or nothing of the boys the Three Musketeers are slated to fight, but from what we have been able to gather they aro all capable boys, even though they ore not causing any of the champions to lose any sleep. It is possibe that if the Klamath marines can maintain their winning pace, 'cither Gates or Harris may be matched with the pride of Portland, Leo (the Lion) Turner. If this should come about, tho marine booked against Turner would be in a position to scale the heights of the Oregon fistic ladder, as Turner Is rated tho best boxer to come out of Portland in a long, long time. This Is purely hypothetical, of course, but it could very easily happen and wo nopc it does. ( Anglers Say Fishing Poor, Fishing conditions throughout Klamath county are still' not what they should be, according to many local anglers who have tried their luck in the lakes and streams. If the present weather holds for another week or two, it was thought that angling would improve tremendously, but at pres ent tho water is too high and muddy. Somo fish are being caught, of course, but no large catches have been reported as yot and the general concensus of opinion Is that it is still a little early for tho fish to start biting well. Pro Football Moguls Eye Two Leagues CHICAGO, April 21 (P) Possibility of two major pro fessional football leagues, work ing in a manner similar to base ball's major leagues, was en visioned today as the all-America football conference moved toward conclusion of its final organization meeting. The all-America group, its Costwar plans already past the lueprint stage, yesterday asked the National Football league for an audience with a view to ward paving the way toward collaboration, or an understand ing, on schedules and player drafts. The new organization re ceived somewhat of a cold shoulder from Commissioner Elmer Layden of the 25-year-old National Football league. But it was hopeful that before its meeting adjourned intra league details, including a pos sible post-season "world series" between circuit champions, would be worked out satisfactorily.
