Who has been held in Yrcka Jail
since December, pleaded guilty
Friday to a churgo of nsirault
with a dangerou weapon, and
wa.i given a a c n t e n c c of six
months in the county Jail.
Johnston was urrcstcd after a
knifing fracas in a Tulelake cafe
In which August Turner, with
whom he had had business deal
ing, was slashed with a pocket
knife.
Lust December 21 , a Jury
brought in a guilty verdict

The defense attorney moved for
a new trial, it wan granted by
Judge James M. Allen, but the
Ht.itu appealed from tho Judge's
order.
This week, Johnston decided
to plead guilty and bring an end
to the protracted case.
Turner, Injured in tho fight,
has recovered.

Mrs. Barnes Dies

LAKEVIEW Funeral serv
ices were held Tuesday after
noon at the Presbyterian church
for Mrs. Mary Ann Barnes, who
was bom June 8, 1857, at Wil
bur, Ore. During the last 32
year, excepting for a short pe
riod in Medford, she has made
her home in Lakeview with her
daughter, Mrs. Dora Lane.
During her life time, he also
lived in Jacksonville, Klamath
Falls and Baker, Ore., and
Gooding and Huntington, Ida.
She is survived by her two
