Hampton, pharmacists' mate 2c, USN, at a cere mony which took place at the home of the groom's sister, Mrs. Barton Waits on Austin street. The young couple exchanged vows before the fireplace which was banked with white calla lilies, pink carnations and stock. Preceding the ceremony Ruth and Lois Steinerson sang "Be cause" and "I Love You Truly," accompanied by Mrs, Barton Waits at the piano. For her wedding, Mrs. Hamp ton chose a dressmaker suit of shrimp pink with navy accessor ies, and a corsage of white gar denias was pinned to her shoul der. Berthlel Nelson was the maid of honor, end wore a blue dress with matching blue acces sories, and a corsage of garden- las. Barton Waits, brother-in-law of the groom, was best man. A reception was held immedi ately following the wedding and the newlyweds cut their three tiered cake which was topped with the figure of a sailor and his bride. Mr. and Mrs. Hampton left for a brief wedding trip to Medford before returning home. As a starter for the proposed food program, Mrs. J, it. Biatch, vice president, who presidea at the meeting held on Tuesday at the home of Mrs. Scott Mc Kendree, appointed Mrs. Mc Kendree, Mrs. M. A. Bowman, Mrs. Dale West and Mrs. E. E. Kilpatrick to investigate the proposed plan. Mrs. Bowman started the ball rolling by offering half of a lot for use by a group of boys, this plot to be watered by ditch. The club donated $50 to the Red Cross and heard a report from Mrs. Kilpatrick on the recent victory garden instruc tion meeting held in Klamath Falls. Mrs. George Houck offered a comprehensive discussion on "Succession of bloom with the all-season and seasonal peren nials," and Mrs. Blatch pre sented Mrs. Hugh O'Connor, winner in a victory garden con test, with an African violet plant. Two new members, Mrs. Max Hartlerode and Mrs. Walter Robison were greeted as new members. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Hugh O'Connor when all members are asked to bring starts of plants for each member. The date is April 24. Mrs. Blatch reported on the urgent need for help with Red Cross sewing and asked that anyone who can help call at Red Cross headquarters in Klamath Falls. Sewing has piled up and is badly needed for wounded men in hospitals. The May meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Miles Moore. .... Contract Club , . Alice Lawrence of 3506 Ander son, was hostess , to the Thursday Contract club on March 22, for dessert and bridge. Attending were Fannie Thompson, Bertha Hewitt, Ruth Heidrich, Eva Richardson, Ruth Palmer, Clara McPherren, Stella Dryden, and the hostess. High score went to Stella Dryden, second to Ruth Heidrich, and the traveling award to Ruth Palmer. Fannie Thompson of 1334 Owens, will entertain the club at its next meeting. I I Service Wives , Club Meets On Monday afternoon, March 26, the Service Wives' club met in the USO lounge. Recently the members have become extremely interested in shell craft, and each one made an attractive pair of earrings at this meeting. This daytime group will con tinue to meet on Monday after noons at 1:30. An evening Serv ice Wives' club has also been or ganized at the USO. Last Mon day evening, the grouo met and later enjoyed cards. This partic ular group will again meet on Monday at 8 p. m., at which time, club officers will be elected. . Man Killed In Route Here MEDFORD, March 31 W) The death of Roy Rodgers in the plunge of his truck 400 feet into a canyon near here was reported yesterday. The truck careened over the gorge yesterday as Rodgers was driving along the Green Springs highway en r o u t e to Klamath Falls. He was an employe of Medford Concrete Manufactur ing company.
