There has been nil average of 23 dugs In tho pound continuous ly this month, according to Poundmuster Amos Fields, since the deadline for buying licenses ivini cn i, Dogs picked up in the city without licenses, Fields said, are advertised over KFJI between 1:15 p. m. and 1:30 p, m. for throe days. If ut the end of that period they ure not claimed they are cither provided with new homes or put to sleep. All dogs received ut the pound arc cxumlned for Illness or disease and those with Incurable sick nesses are automatically de stroyed. Owners cliilmlng dogs who have been picked up in the streets must pay the board and keep of their pets during their stay at the pound, pay for the licenses, and a penalty of $1 for being late with Ihcir application for a license. Licenses cost $1.50 for male dogs, $2.50 for females- and $1.50 for spayed females. Fields reminds dog owners that it is agninst the city ordin ance for dogs to chase cars. Many Injuries have been in curred by dugs and persons be cause of animuls racing cars in the city. Cross, 2040 Bisbce, was awarded the Air Medal for meritorious achievement in aerial flight while participating in sustained operational activities against the enemy. Pvt. Cress is an aerial gunner in a veteran B-Z4 neavy Bom bardment group of the 15th air force in Ituly and has flown on more than 15 bombing missions against the Germans in southern iSurooc. Before volunteering lor aerial gunnery, Cress was a re fuel ng unit operator in tne same group. He has been in Italy for tne past 13 montns.
