Scott, Stuart Nel son, Roger Lee Bennett, Zaleric Prior, Sandra Prior, Slevlo Nor wood, Evelyn Joyce Deets, Erma Deets, Mrs. Jackson Norwood ; and Jacqueline, the guest of I honor, Sandra Jonn, who was five years old on that day, and i the hostess, Mrs. Gilbert. i Altar Society MERRILL Members of St. Augustine's church . celebrated the payment of the final install ment on construction costs of the church at a potluck dinner on Sunday evening, February 11, in the Oddfellows hall. The mortgage was burned in a cere mony which was planned as a part of the program, following the dinner. Plans for this affair were made at a meeting of the Altar society, which was held on Mrs. George Condrey. leader. and Mrs. David Snyder, assist ant leader, of Brownie troop 31 of Roosevelt school, report that their troop members have collected large amounts of cur rent magazines. These were taken to the USO to be dis tributed to hospital trains, which Is helping to carry out the national theme of the Girl Scouts for 1945. "Service to Hospitals." The Brownies have also col lected a number of women's magazines which are to be tak en to the Klamath air station for use by the Waves. In 'appreciation of the troop's efforts, the leaders entertained them with a Valentine party t the Condrey home on Fri. day afternoon, February 18. The Brownies of troop 30 at Altamont school, under the su pervision of leader, Mrs. J. I, Zumalt and assistant, Mrs. Gil bert Franklin, have taken as their personal project this year, "Service to the County Farm For Old People." Valentine lace paper bags for the old people were recent ly made by the Brownies at their regular meetings. These were filled with homemade cookies and candies which had been donated by Mrs. K. M. Peterson and Kathleen Baughn. The troop also sent two cakes, decorated in valentine motifs, to help make a special Valen tine dinner at the farm. An assortment of late magazine were also eagerly received. Margaret Mitchell wrote the last part of "Gone With The Wind'' before the first part.
