55 Carloads of Tin
Cans Sent From State
Oregon shipped 86 tons of pre
narcd tin cans to war durini! No
vember, bringing total volunteer
shipments for tho first 1 1 months
of the current year to 052 tons,
or 55 carloads.
This announcement was made
Tuesday by the state salvage
committee which disclosed that
November' total included single
carload shipments from Lane,
Coos nnd Wasco counticr, plus
two cnrloads from Multnomah
county.
On a basis of pound collected
per capita, Wasco county cur
rently leads all counties in the
state In 1044 shipments to the
San Francisco detinnlng plant.
Wasco has shipped 37,250 pounds
of cans for an average of 3.51
pounds per person.
Over-all state shipments from
January 1 to November 30, 1044,
amount to an average of 1.01
pounds per capita. Klamath
county's per capita shipment
avcrago is .77 pounds.
City Pound Collects
$177.75 In Month
A total of $177.75 was collect
ed during the month of Novem
ber by the Klamath Falls' city
pound and kennels, according to
a report filed by Chief of Police
Earl lleuvcl with the city coun
cil. Greater portion of this amount
was received for boarding ani
mals, and substantial fees turned
over for sale of dogs and cats.

Jim Souther, chairman of the
retail merchants' committee, has
thanked the members of the
"third army" for their splendid
efforts in the sale of "E" bonds
during Pearl Harbor Day, De
cember 7. Bond sales were
doubled on that day, according
to Souther.
