Cash wheat prices at Portland
continued on a downward trend
the past week, losing 1 to 3 cents
a bushel compared with a week
ago, the war food administration
said today.
Weakness" In cash wheat here
was generally attributed to the
extremely slow demand from all
classes of buyers at coast termi
nals. Mills appeared uninterest
ed in wheat except high protein
hard whites.
The CCC was In the market
, with support prices of $1.45, but
this was not sufficient to main
tain values, the WFA said. Grow
ers, however, are not selling ap
preciable amounts of wheat,
since the current bids are now
below loan levels.

ported being placed under loan.
Wheat receipts at Puget Sound
and Columbia river terminals!
were seasonally heavy at about
