The forest guards, lookouts, rangers, and wardens and all of the men of the private, state and federal forest protection agencies are organized and on their toes to hit every fire that starts, quick and hard. They know that forest fires destroy vital war mate rial, disrupt war work, and take men from industry and agriculture to fight fires. They know that big forest fires would create a smoke screen which would hamper mili tary activities. No doubt some tires will have to.be fought mis year. These are the fires that are started by lightning, by ac cident, or by enemy saboteurs. All of these fires should be jumped on and put out while small. There should be no forest fires started by our own citizens. The careless smoker, the easy-going camper, or the workman or brushburner who takes a chance, should be out of the picture. Every one of us must be vigilant to prevent fires from starting to help put out any small 'ires that do start. , Just remember that the man who starts a forest fire is helping the enemy. Don't be in that class. We can't afford to take a chance, in this war year of 1944. We shouldn't take a chance any year. Let's all help to LfU (PI EG ".. .
