Logging Superintendent Harry Messner said that tho averago is zt lu-ioot logs to the thousand foot. This is national forest timber. Tho logs are loaded at Chin- challo, on the Southern Pacific main line, at the rate of about 250,000 feet a day. They are then railed to the Klamath Falls mill. Lamm Lumber company is logging in the same area and tho two companies have separate spurs at Chinchallo. Men at the Marine Barrack; who are interested in history are going to learn about the Modoc war in talks and trips being arranged by the recreation department in cooperation with Don Fisher, acting custodian of the Lava Beds national monu ment. Fisher has been asked to (oil about the war and the Lava Beds monument in talks. at the Bar racks, and will take marines, in groups of 25, through tho area where the war was fought as well as into the caves in the monument.
