The women are going to get their share, too. When the lux uries of silk and nylon stockings return, they will be run-proof. Monsanto says this Is made possible by a deposit of submic roscopic grains of sand or silica which prevents the fibers from slipping out of the positions in to which they were knitted. Right now these new processes are bing applied to war mater, ials, but Monsanto says they can all be expected in civilian goods, shortly after the war ends. Eisen- howcr declared today that Ger many's flying bomb in its pres ent stage was not a very ef fective weapon except for at tacks on sprawling metropolitan areas like London. Tho supreme allied command-. cr said in an interview that with- n the reasonable future, there was little prospect that the. weapon would improve in ef ficiency. Discussing the "damnable thing" at an advanced command post, Eisenhower conceded that no one was taking lightly the experience which London and southern England are undergo ing. The bomb is one of those things on which the military man must keep quiet for the mo ment," Eisenhower said, "but that doesn't mean I am not sympathetic to the people who are having to suffer from the damned things. . - "I am just as concerned as anybody else about finding ways and means of getting them down and preventing them from be coming more serious." Eisenhower said the allies have been successful in keep ing the weapons down, to a certain extent. Scientists still must evolve something more ef fective than the defense meas ures now in use, he said.
