S. navy.- ! Bob Hosley, stationed in India, has been promoted to the rank of technical sergeant. i Bob Wirth was promoted to the rank of Staff-Sgt., he was award ed a Presidential Citation and an Oak Leaf Cluster recently, He is in England. : . . . , Charles (Ade) Stinson Is with the 15th Air Force in Italy. i Paul Coleman was promoted to the rank of E. M. 2c. - He works with the mine laying unit and Is stationed in Hawaii. . ; Blllie Robertson S 2c has ar rived in Hawaii and finds it nice to be able to hire the Hawaiian girls to do his washing cheaply. He writes, "They are better at it than I am." Bobby Burns stationed in Italy witnessed the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius. He writes it was an awe inspiring sight. Set. Raymond Fuller writes from Camp McQuaide, that he will soon leave for camp Jbee, Va., to enter officers training school. Herb Rooper, Ph. 2c has been transferred from Seattle navy base hospital to the Portland re ceiving base hospital. He re turned to the States from New Zealand where he was stationed for 18 months. Truman Hall stationed in Eng land received a new address re cently. Many believe he was among the invasion troops, due to tne cnange in nis address. . Set. Georee Greeorv has been in a hospital in England for two weeks due to a severe attack of the flu. Junior. Castel. stationed in England, flew his first mission June 5. Gibson A. Lee with the Roval air force to India writes: "I've been here over a year, when we left England I didn't believe the vessel as large as it was, could possibly make it here with the weight it carried. Yet we are here. My civilized days seem to be over. Here men only wear trousers occasionally, and almost naked coolies sport umbrellas, cows wander where they like, and sleep ditto, where smells all (noxious) reign supreme. Our present "drome" is cut off from the outside world. Monkevs swing-from the trees by . their tails over my sleeping bag. Jackals and hyenas -make the nights hideout with their shrieks, and snakes seem to be every where and into everything. Chief Ranger Crouch -with the engineer corps writes they are leaving Camp Abbot -for Fort Lewis. - He was stationed at Fort Lewis once before. Andy Erickson, still stationed at Iran, has mailed many beauti ful gifts to - his relatives and friends, in the States. uoDDy simmers with the amphibious forces in the Pacific area writes that he went in with th0 first assault wave of marines to land on the Marshall islands. Lt. Col. Bradfield is stationed at New Orleans at this date. Remo Mclchoire visited In Chiloquin a few hours last week. He has returned to a port of em barkation. John Bradley of the U. -S. marines has been transferred from San Diego to El Centro, Calif. J t Captain Hank Evans writes he has been transferred from Tampa air base to St. Peters burg, Fla. He is flying the big Forts and says it's nothing like the old days. " . ' Captain Nerseth is still sta tioned at Camp McQuaide, Calif. Major Peter Galante is now stationed at a San Francisco army base. Katlierine O'Donoughue, cadet nurse, is stationed at the Good Samaritan hospital at Portland. She likes her work and finds it very interesting. Ted Ritter has been chosen to attend a four weeks' course at a base in Texas. He has been at Letterman General hospital in San Francisco where he just finished a six weeks course. Hollis H. Mathis, S 2c is stationed at Ames, Iowa univers ity. He writes the heat here is fierce, and there seems to be no relief in sight. Gene Cunial, 3c radar man has sent Jap money and many In teresting letters from the South Pacific theater. He was in on the taking of Tarawa, and writes how really treacherous the Jap Sgt. Ralph Taylor was wound ed in Italy and has been trans ferred to North Africa for special care. His brother, Ray, stationed in New Guinea writes he is go ing to Australia to a rest camp after some hard work in that area. Ermel Hosley has finished his boot camp training at Farragut. Idaho, and has been enjoying his leave with his family and friends. Eddie Davis stationed at Fort Huachuca. Arizona, was award ed a citation for the outstanding X-ray technician for the month of May. Eddie also wears the good conduct bar and clasp along with his service medals. ' Bob McCorkhill stationed In North Africa wrote he is on the move again.
