Armstrong Scores TKO Over Davis "NEW YORK, June 18 VP) Henry Armstrong still is one of the best fighters in tne business. The. former triple champion demonstrated it last night in flailing Al "Bummy" Davis in less than two rounds at Madison Sciuare garden. A crowd of 16.084 (gross gate $58,822) screamed deafcnlngly as Hammerin' Henry from Los Angeles battered the Brooklyn bad boy to the canvas lour times. twice In the first round, before Referee Frank Fullam stopped it after 69 seconds of the second stanza. Davis was stretched full length, flat o:. his face, when Fullam, without bothering to count, waved Armstrong to his corner. . Acorns Win From Beavers Despite Forgetfullness By The Associated Press Manager Dolph Camilli's ram- paginK Oakland Acorns had built up a 13-1 margin over Port land by the time the second out was made in the top half of the sixth inning. Perhaps it was the. lop-sided score that made them forget. Anyway, the two teams, still with only two out, suddenly broke up activities and changed positions, the oaks taking tne field and the Beavers seeking the shelter of their dugout. It wasn't until well into the next inning that the scorer brought the boner to light. It was straight baseball from then on, with Camilli's crew winning 17 to 2 and dropping Portland out of first place in favor of the San Francisco Seals, who trimmed San Diego 6 to 1. Dick Conger let Seattle down with five hits and bagged four safeties himself to lead Los An geles to a 9 to 2 win over the Rainicrs. It was Seattle s sixth loss in seven tries. Hollywood had an easy time with towering Steve Le Gault, Sacramento's string bean pitcher, Fifteen Hollywood hits were good for a 9 to 1 triumph. Pete Plots To Avenge Last Defeat Sneeze Achui to Battle Buck Davidson in Armory Semi-Windup Go Tonight Pete Belcastro is out for re venge tonight. And he has his reasons. . It was just about a month ago that George Wagner his main event opponent tonight put him out of commission for a couple of weeks with an in jured back. That in itself cost Pete, who wrestles in several places other than Klamath Falls, a considerable amount of dough. So tonight, Belcastro Is going to retaliate by attempting to take his lost income from the hide of Gorgeous George. On top of that reason, there seems to be just a plain ordin ary natural dislike, for each other among the top two grunt and groan artists. Belcastro has several times mentioned a dis like for the Beautiful Body Boy, and Wagner in a state ment yesterday said that he thought Belcastro was "over rated." - -- When all this hate enters the armory ring tonight, there should be almost as much blood spilled as was last Friday in the two finals when both Belcastro and Katonen reddened the mat. In the semi wlndup event, waiter "Sneeze" Achui, pres sure artist from China, will squeeze and pound with Buck Davidson, who fought Silent ttattan in tne opener last week. Sneeze drODDed Katonen in the disputed title battle In Salem last week Tuesday, and with such a background should put on a wnaie or a snow with Dav idson this week.
