OREGON 'I mm .'5 ' Ml or L N Hi T CITY BALLOT MALIN Freeholders of the proposed Community park dis trict will go to the polls Tues day, June 27, in the city hall here to vote on organization of the district and the right to maintain the park for future generations after the initial cost of financing the big postwar project is completed by volun tary donations. Contributions totaling $42,000 are already in the hands of the park commit tee, organized after a suggestion by the local chamber of com merce took root and grew into the present $100,000 plan. Taxation on real estate with in the boundaries of the pro posed district cannot exceed the 10 mills allowed by the state statutes, according to members of the committee, who for sev eral months have been hard at work whipping details of the planned program into shape. Initial cost of the park which will be located to the left of the Merrill-Malin highway within the limits of Malin will be ap proximately $100,000. A swim ming pool, with heated water, picnic grounds, beautiful drives, recreation halls, gardens, ath letic grounds and ice skating facilities are all included in the draft made by Sheldon Brum baugh, Klamath Falls architect. There will be no admission, contrary to rumors, to the park. Actual annual care for the park, including wages of a year around caretaker, summer help- er and property upkeep, will not exceed 5$000. There will be no bond issue floated to com plete the project or for later maintenance, according to the committee, tax funds to be un- der the jurisdiction of the Klam- , ath county court Land for the park is at pres ent owned by Mrs. Ben Pickett and John Brothanek and in volves a 10-acre tract. The park committee is com posed of Dick Henzel, M. M. Stastney, W. C. Dalton, Gerald ' D. West, A. Kalina, Louie Lyon, Ted A. DeMerritt, Frank Brick ner, Laddie Bajnus and Irving Capek. Three directors will also be : elected at the special meeting, ' president of the group to be elected later and a secretary ap pointed. The committee has worked T consistently over a long period : of time since the idea was sug gested to provide a workable program which will provide a . much needed recreational area tor everyone in the Klamath and Tulelake basins.
