OREGON , CONVENTION OF CHURCHES SUITED HERE The state convention of Ore- eon Churches of God will be held in Klamath Falls June 8, 9, 10 and 11, in the Mills school auditorium, it was announced this week by M. A. . Tomlinson, general overseer, and H. M. Big-gers,- state- overseer. , ..- Thursday's program will open with a song service at 8 p. m. with Roy D. Givens In charge, followed by a - concert prayer for the convention, the. welcome address, . testimony , service led by Eliza Stephens and, a talk, 'The Purpose and Importance of the State Conventions," by Grady R. Kent. Sunrise service at 6:30 a. m. is scheduled to start the Friday services. Riley Rogers. Is in charge. A song service "by Del vin Daugherty will precede the business meeting. The Church That ! Is Fulfilling Prophecy Moves On," will be given by Earl Metcalf, overseer of Idaho. Divine healing is scheduled for 11:20 a. m., directed by H. B. Moore--of Arizona. Afternoon services starting at. 1:30 o'clock will feature a message, "Feed My Sheep," by Danny Gregory. Friday evening the song serv ice will be led by RubyMood enbaugh with a message, 'The Young People Will . Master Every Problem," by -Inez Big gers, and a second message by John A. Stubbs, overseer of California. A second sunrise , service at 6:30 a. m. will open the Satur day session with the Sunday school work stressed during the morning program. In the after noon the messages will be, "Ex cept the Lord Build the House, They Labor in Vain That Build It," by Sidney Cooley, overseer of Washington, and "Sanctifica tion and Its. Effect," by Joe Webb. . - The program will "continue Saturday at 7:45 p. m., with Grady R. Kent speaking. Song service will be in charge of Bob Williams and Ruth Williams will direct the evening testi- mony. . . - . Writer Sees Battle Royal Rage From Plane Cockpit By GLADWIN HILL ' Associated Prats Correspondent Representing the Combined American Press - A MARAUDER BASE IN ENGLAND, June 6 (P) From the cockpit of one of many hun dreds of planes which supported the allied landing in northern France early on Juno 6, I watched a battle royal rage on the sea and in the air. The fields along the French channel coast were dotted with parachutes of allied airborne forces who had landed a few minutes before and interspersed among the parachutes were air craft probably gliders. The first signs of battle were flashed from the channel below, which through the mist and a naval smoke - screen gradually became distinguishable as gun detonations on warships shelling the coast. The channel wasn't "jammed with shipping" as might have been expected. The channel. Is a big place, but on every hand there were forces of ships cither battering the coast line or bring ing up forces to take advantage of breaches. The aircraft dotting the fields bore the distinctive allied .in vasion black and white zebra stripe, which was hurriedly slap ped on the aircraft late yester day. (A broadcast from supreme headquarters said the black and white identifying stripes on the planes were one step toward pre venting confusion and repititlon of such mistakes as allied gun ners firing on friendly planes, as happened in Sicily.) United Nations convoys are bringing up additional rein forcements to support this in itial invasion drive, and thou sands of allied planes are ham mering the coast. . . General Demoted for Talk About Date of Invasion SUPREME HEADQUARTERS. ALLIED EXPEDITIONARY FORCE, June 7 (tf) One of America's best known major generals was demoted to lieu tenant colonel and sent home for indicating in advance the time of D-Day. The supreme ' command al lowed this information to be cabled abroad today after hold ing it up several weeks for se curity reasons. June 7 (P) The London Daily Express and Daily Telegraph both omitted air ad vertisements from morning edi tions today in order to give full space to invasion coverage. " (The New York Daily Mirror and Dally News carried no ad vertising in their Wednesday morning editions, explaining they wanted to give full cov erage to invasion news.) (The Herald Tribune elimin ated all advertising except its classified and record financial columns. New York Times of ficials said that many display advertisers elected to omit or reduce their amount of adver tising for the day and that the volume carried was about half, of the normal amount.)
