Hare on Business Sara WIrtz, associate district FSA supervisor from Portland, Is in Klamath Falls on a 3-day business trip, Joan Gets Divorce From Brian Aherne LOS ANGELES, June 2 (P) Actress Joan Fontaine, who once declared Brian Aherne was the perfect husband, won a di vorce from him today on grounds of extreme cruelty. One instance of the actor's alleged cruelty: Miss Fontaine was allergic to dust, but Aherne mado her visit his desert ranch. Her corroborating witness, Voa da Cleveland, tqld Judge Stan ley Mosk that when Miss Fon taine returned from desert trips her face was swollen. Joan, who is 28, and Aherne, who Is 41, were married 4V4 years ago. BAILEY DIES PORTLAND. Juno 2 (P) Ar- He Almont Bailey, Multnomah county clerk and former state representative and senator, died here today at the age of 76. Painting, kalsominlng and va rious types of repair work are already In progress at all the county schools which are be ing spruced up for next fall. Floors are being repaired and roflnishcd and new roofs are being put on several - of the buildings. An addition to the county school shops on Summers lane Is now under construction. This will enable some of the larger buses to be placed under shel ter while they are undergoing repairs. The shops as they were previously were not largo enough to accommodate some of the bigger school buses. Skipper of Bergh, Wrecked On Isle, Faces Charges SAN FRANCISCO, June 2 IP) The coast guard announced today that formal charges of In competence and negligence would be filed against Capt. Joseph C. Chambers, skipper of the transport Henry Bergh, which piled up on the rocks of the Farallon islands early Wed nesday. A trial was set for tomorrow before Lt. Robert E. Burns. In announcing the action, Lt.- Comdr. John J. McManon, in charge of the coast guard ma rine hearing unit, gave no Indi cation whether charges were to bo based on anything moretnan an official desire to ascertain the facts. The captain yesterday told interviewers the crew and the more than 1000 ln-bound naval passengers had but a scant 20 seconds warning or we im pending crash 30 miles off the Golden Gate. POSSE PLANS PARTICIPATION IN 4TH RODEO Lloyd Low's Sheriff's Posse held an enthusiastic annual din ner-meeting at the Pelican cafe Thursday night. The main busi ness was preparation for partici pation in the Buckaroo Rodeo programs, and the election of officers. Lloyd Low, as sheriff of Klam ath county, is the "chief" or "sheriff" of the posse. E. P. Ivory was elected president and cap tain; Elmer Balslger became vice president, and Greer Glascoe was elected secretary-treasurer. For directors, Dr. James Hilton, Lew- Is Stewart, Jerry S I s e m o r e, Marshall Cornett, Brady Narey, Dale Mat toon and. Guy Barton were selected. The posse enthusiastically ac cepted the invitation of the Klamath Buckaroo days commit tee of the American Legion to participate in the parade and give an exhibition d r 1 1 1 at the fairgrounds. Drilling for the event will be undertaken imme diately on all Sunday afternoons and on the last two Wednesday evenings in the month of June. It was also decided to act as hosts to the Siskiyou county sheriff's posse of Yreka, which also has been invited to take part In the rodeo celebration by the Rodeo committee. , The Yreka posse Is reputed to have an ex cellent team. A competitive drill is in the offing, and the Klamath posse knows that it must get out and worn hard if It is to hold its own with that excellent aggrega tion of western horsemen.
