Bly Meeting BLY Madclyn Crane entertain ed the Bly Music and Dramatic association at her home on May 15. Carl Raupach, president, pre sided over the business meet ing. Tho secretary gave favor able reports regarding the dance hold In the Bly gymnasium on May 12. The annual picnic will be held at the Bly recreation park on May 28, it was an nounced. . A short skit was given by Etta Hartman and Carl Rau pach. There was a short instal lation of officers. Refreshments were served to fourteen mem bers. Wednesday evening, May 10, the Happy Day sewing club met with Mrs. Lloyd Allen, 2461 Orchard way. Attending were Mrs. D. P. Freborg, Mrs. F. A. Beard. Mrs. Harry Wiard, Mrs. H. E. Stiles, Mrs.. Virginia Eleanor Wallace, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Guy Wallace of North Eleventh street, and PFC Henry Douglas Ambers, United States army, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Ambers of Pleasant avenue, were mar ried Thursday, May 11, in a ceremony read by Rev. Langseth in the Klamath Lutheran church. Parents of the young couple attended them. A family gath ering is planned for Saturday night by the Wallace and Am bers families in honor of the newlyweds. PFC Ambers re ports back to Camp Hahn, Cali fornia, on May 23, and his bride will remain here with her par ents. . The groom has just re turned from serving 18 months In the Aleutians. Seniors Honored Henley High school "" seniors were guests at an outdoor din ner party given by Mrs. Blanche Harmon of the Merrill highway when sho entertained early in May for her nephew, LeRoy Stewart, member of the gradu ating class. The hostess was as sisted by Mrs. Howard Han ville. . - The class colors of blue and white were used on the long tables and apple blossoms lent a gay note. Movies were shown after the dinner. Harold Parting, Paster Victory Club The Midland Victory club met at the home of Mrs. Edna Travers on Wednesday with Mrs. Blanche Flowers and Mrs. Pauline Gray as hostesses. A large attendance was reported and the afternoon was spent in cutting out slippers for con valescing service men. The meeting was presided over by the vice president, Mrs. Trav ers, in the absence of the presi dent, Mrs. Hazel Mistier who is visiting in Leavenworth, Kan sas. It was decided to give a pot luck supper on May 27. Mrs. Gray received the gift award of the afternoon. Refreshments were served to Mrs. Travers, Mrs. Pearl Mc pherson and Nancy, Marilyn and Barbara Jean Wilson, Mrs. Thelma Houck and Leland, Mrs. Vada Schmeck and Vaughn, Mrs. Minnie Andrieau and Ray mond, David and Ruth. I Townsend Club Members of Townsend club met Saturday, May 6, in the KC hall and a potluck supper was served at 7:30 o'clock with Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Gilles of Salem and Mrs. Bevins of Port land as the honor guests. The long- tables, where places were laid for 80 members and guests,- were centered with bowls Of daffodils. Following dinner re porta were read of the district con vention held at Redmond on April 19, and the state conven tion in Salem on April 30. The meeting was then turned over to Mr. Gilles who read and ex plained the newly proposed $60 amendment, called the Oregon Employment and Retirement In surance Plan. Delegates to the state con vention were Mrs. Bernice Mc Cracken, Mrs.Eva Myers and John Shively. Also making the trip were Mrs. Esther Mast and Ed McCracken and son. Mrs. McCracken acted as secretary to A. O. Soholm of Portland, Townsend organizer' of Oregon and permanent chairman of the convention. The evening ended with a dance which more than 150 per sons attended. Mr. Soholm ex pects to visit Klamath Falls soon, the date to be announced later. ' Wedding Plan Of interest to friends of Dr. and Mrs. H. E. Kelty of Lake view is word of the approaching marriage of their son, Aviation Cadet John Richard Kelty, whose bride-to-be is Mary Jane Brabec of Salem, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Brabec of the capital city. The . wedding will take place early in June at the post chapel at the air base in San Antonio, Texas.. Miss Brabec is a mem ber of Pi Beta Phi sorority, Uni versity of Oregon, and is known to a number of the younger set here. The regular business meeting of Prosperity Rebekah lodge was held in the IOOF hall Thursday, May 18, at 8 p.m. Mary Curtis presided, and rou tine business was transacted. Hosts at Dinner Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Moss and Mr. and Mrs. J, M. Bell were entertained at dinner on Sunday when Mr. and Mrs. Frank Evans were host and hostess at their home on Wall street. The occasion was a fare well to Mr. and Mrs. Moss who left this week to make their home in Ashland. On Tuesday evening, Mr. and Mrs. Evans and Mrs. Grace Ktntgcn were hosts at dinner honoring Mr. and Mrs. James Racknor who are moving to Cottage Grove to make their home after many years of resi dence in this city. Jack Whit sitt of Ashland, who is temporar ily in the bay region after spend ing 21 months in the South Paci fic with the United States army air corps. The ceremony took place, Sat urday, May 13, at the First Pres byterian church in San Francis co. A wedding reception was held at the Sir Francis Drake hotel for the many friends of the bride and groom. The newly weds plan to spend a few days visiting here with the bride's par ents, Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Keller before Capt. Whitsitt has to re port tor duty at Santa Monica where he will be stationed for an indefinite period. Mrs. Kel ler returned home on Monday. Members of the Altamont Garden club of which Mrs. Don Holloway is president, may bring their plants to the Red Cross surgical dressings project on Wednesday at the Altamont Junior high school, it was an nounced. ' Using the effective candle lighting ceremony, Ltllle Darby, a past president of the Klamath Falls Business and Professional Women's club, installed the six new officers who will serve during the coming year, at the conclusion of the dinner and business meeting at the Willard Monday evening. The new officers are Norma Miller, president; Hazel Morri son, first vice president; Ellen Upp, second vice president; Veneta Hunter, recording secretary;- Marjorie Brissenden, corres ponding secretary, and Mable Humble, treasurer. Mr. Paul Landry, Introduced by Rose M. Poole, explained the Memorial Park fund on which voters were asked to cast ballots at the primary election and showed the miniature plat of the park, pointing out the various landscaping and build ing features. Lieut. Helen Robertson, army recruiter in charge of the Klam ath office, was invited to out line the work of the Women s Army corps during the past two years, in observance of the corps' second anniversary. Delegates' reports of the state convention held in Klamath Falls were presented by Emma Carter, retiring state publica tions chairman, Norma Miller, Jacquelin Newcom, Lucille Tweed, Marjorie Brissenden, Veneta Hunter and Joy Koipn. President Winnlfred Gillen appointed Ellen Upp to repre sent the bfw club on tne wom en's division for the Fifth War Loan drive in June, and Dena D. Backes was appointed to present a wreath from the club at the Memorial Day services on the courthouse lawn. Past presidents were in charge of Monday night's meet ing and Isabelle Brixner, retir ing state president, acted as chairman. Sprays of apple blos soms in a crystal bowl, flanked on each side by five apple blos som nosegays in small bowls and with an arrangement of purple iris on each end made the speaker's table particularly lovely, a miniature spring gar den and lighted tapers centered each of the other tables. The next regular meeting of the cluo will be held on June 5. and. as a final affair for this fiscal year, a picnic has also WCW Meets The May meeting of the WCTU was held at the home of Presi dent Mrs. Ellen Rogers of 607 High on Tuesday, May 9. After a short devotlonat pe riod, Mrs. Helene Melaas gave a temperance lesson quoting from "The National Voice," the "National Prohibitionist" and the "Sunday School Times." Among other things, Mrs. Melaas quoted from one of the maga zines the fact that "over four billion dollars are spent annual ly in America for liquor., and Washington, D. C, leads tha na tion in war-time drinking." A shower of cards and hand kerchiefs was given Mrs. Mel aas by the members in appreci ation for her many years of ser vice in the organization. ' Tha president extended the club's best wishes to Mrs. Melaas as she goes to her new home in Boulder, Colorado. Refreshments were served by the hostess following the pro gram. .
