Canning Top List of Home Problems That food production and food preservation will be the largest items on tho agenda of most Oregon homcmukcrs was the prediction of Lois Lutz, Oregon Stale college home man agement specialist, '.who ad dressed members of the 12 Klamath county home exten sion units who gathered at the Altnmnnt Junior high school Thursday for their annual pro gram planning day and for in stallation of county officers for tho group. In discussing some of tho problems that confront county administrators, both home and civic, during war time, Miss Lutz pointed out that child delinquency, and tho con servation of food and clothing and of furniture will loom large on tho list. Mrs, W, S. Metier, president of tho Allnmont unit, was pre siding officer ut the gathering. The unit representatives bore out Miss Lutz' prediction by se lecting demonstrations of can ning methods, food spoilage clinics, and an Insect pest con trol lecture for their summer program, with meetings on the preparation of oven meals, rolls and sweet breads ond arrang ing the family diet to avoid colds. The 1044-45 program will also include discussions of im proved storage space, forestal ling delinquency, making slip covers for furniture, and short cuts in home sewing. In addition, a correspondence course for new mothers has been added to the extension service, by means of which the latest information on tho care and feeding of expectant moth ers and of Infants from birth to four years will bo Issued from Oregon Stnto college through the office of the home demonstration ngent on a monthly basis to those enrolled. At the luncheon program dur ing the noon hour, Mrs. Earl Muck, county home extension committee member, presented a gavel to Mrs. Metier for the Al tumont unit, winner of the award to the group that fur thest exceeded the requirements for a standard unit during the year. Mrs. Lee Holliday, past county committee member, in stalled Mrs. W. B. Bickers of Modoc Point and Mrs. W. M. Williams, Henley, -as new mem bers of the county committee, presenting them with corsages of spring flowers which. Mrs. Fred Fletcher had made. Mrs. Dave Campbell of Bly Is also a new member of the commit tee, but was not present at the installation. Standard unit cer tificates were awarded to the Bly, Poe Valley, Altamont, Ma- lin and Henley units. Mrs. Wesley Harsey, Mrs. Dan Mathis. Mrs. M. F.
