Orth Sisemore, district attorney, aces an increase in worthless ' checks here. In the last two weeks, Sisemore said, one indi vldual put out seven bad checks. totaling over $200. Another vio lator passed one for $1425. The district attorney's office, In connection with the Mer chants' Credit Service, Inc., is making a concentrated effort to reduce these crimes. To make it effective, however, the coopera tion of the local business firms is needed, Sisemore said Friday. It's suggested that local busi ness houses exercise great care in cashing checks for Individuals whom they do not know. Identi- ficatlon should be demanded. Sisemore stated that the Mer chants Credit Service has adopt ed the policy requiring their members to have the persons cashing checks place their fin ger print on the check, and he suggested that other merchants follow this policy. Sisemore also said that his of fice is going to send out bulle tins to business bouses on eaa checks, and requested that any business firm desiring to be put on the mailing list for these bul letins call his office or the Mer chants' Credit Service. It has been found that more than 10,000,000, persons - are treated annually In the hospitals of the United States. Sept 24 VPi State forestry officials are not serious ly concerned about, forest fire hazards, it being doubtful that the October 1 opening of the deer hunting season will be delayed. A 1943 law provides that if the game commission postpones or cancels the hunting season, it must give five days' notice. So the commission must act by to morrow if it plans to delay the season's opening. However, Governor Earl Snell has power to close forests to en try without giving notice. If he did issue such an order, there still could be hunting in non-forested areas. Governor Snell Indicated to day he Is not seriously consider ing closing the forests to entry, and will do so only if the hazard becomes greater. United Airlines Sends Men to Talk Klamath Application Word was received here today that O. C. Richer j, assistant manager of operations for the western division of the United Airlines, and Paul Rader, chief pilot of the United Airlines, would arrive in Klamath Falls by plane Saturday. They will discuss the possibility of renew ing their applications for service to Klamath Falls with city offi cials and the chamber of com merce.
