Kllgore, son of Mrs. Etta Kllgore, 1848 Martin street, it now on Sicily In a hospital with malaria. He waa with the first landing of troopa In Sicily. He also won the Purple Heart when he received a bullet wound In his leg. Sergeant Kllgore took part In the North African campaign and has been across since November. A letter was received recently from Corporal Bud Falrclo, son of Mri. George Lewli of Dairy, stating that he la now In Sicily. He says that people treat the American boya fine. They have lota of ripe lemona, plums, peaches, and tomatoes, and can even buy ice cream in town. This la quite a treat for the boys aa Ice cream wasn't available in Africa. Bud also stated that he waa selected to take a string of "Mussollnis," mules and sad dle hones, 80 miles across coun try. Apprentice Seaman Rote Gal lagher, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Gallagher of the Weyer haeuser Junction, has been trans ferred from Hunters college. New York, where she received training In the WAVES. Also transferred was Clarice Zum brun, another Klamath girl now In the WAVES. They will be sent to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to yeoman training school. Baled Hay Destroyed In Tulelake Fire TULELAKE Fire, apparent ly atartcd accidentally by a transient seeking a place to sleep, destroyed about 75 bales of hay loaded in a freight car in the S. P. yards here late Fri day night. The hay, belonging to Lester Porterfield, was billed north. Interior of the car suf fered some damage, according to Hubert Bond, agent. KLAMATH TO SHARE IN LOG SALE PROCEEDS Classified Ads Bring Results. WASHINGTON, Aug. 2S VP) Eighteen Oregon counties will share 8950,423 in revenues from the sale of timber produced on 2,500,000 acrei of Oregon and California railroad grant lands in 1042, the department of In terior announced today. The timber acreage la man aged by the department on a sustained yield basis, and pro duced 415,000,000 board feet of lumber during the year. Of the total payment, 8680,363 represented the counties' share in timber sale proceeds, and 8270,060 waa in lieu of back taxes the counties would have received from the lands, which reverted to federal ownership when the Oregon and California failed to live up to provision! of its land grant.
