Five Safe After Parachuting From Navy Airplane SEATTLE, Aug. 23 (fp) Five men who parachuted from a navy plane In the Mount Rainier area last Thursday all have been found safe, the 13th naval dis trict announced yesterday. The plane has not been local ed and headquarters gave no rea son why the five balled out. The plane was en route from Ala. meda, Calif., to the naval air sta tion here. The announcement said the pilot and radioman made their way to a ranger station Thurs day. The co-pilot was located Friday and the two passengers Saturday "thirty miles cast of Seattle." They won Saturday, 4-1 and 5-3. Pitcher Frank Tincup, serving as a plnchhitter, was the hero of Sunday's first game . Ho cracked out a ninth-inning sin gle to score Leonard Gabriel son with the winning run after two were out. Byron Speeea whitewashed the Solons with four hits in the second game. The Portland Beavers hung tightly to fourth place in taking both ends of a doubleheader from San Diego, 8-0 and 6-2. The Padres dropped into seventh place as a result of tho trimmings. The Beavers pushed across four runs in the final inning to break a 2-2 deadlock in the nightcap. The Padres outhit the Beavers 9 to 7 in tho first game but couldn't connect with men on bases. Oakland hung it on San Francisco, 3-0 and 7-2. Pitchers Chet Jones and Italo Chelini allowed but six hits in the two games. Champ Grid Game For High Schools May Be Scheduled PORTLAND, Aug. 23 0P)-1-Now that Portland is back in the fold of the State High School Activities association, plans are underway for a state champion ship football game here. Managers of the Multnomah stadium said they hoped to schedule the title game here De cember 4, if a Portland team ranks as one of the finalists. Thirteen other high school games are billed for the stadium, but only four college games are on tap. They are: .
