Lieutenant Graham Gets Promotion temporary promotlona an' nounced by the war department today included the name of Mer rill Vivian Graham of Klamath Falls, who has been promoted from second lieutenant to first lieutenant. Lieutenant Graham formerly lived at 4841 Cannon avenue In Klamath Falls. Ha was at one time a conductor on the Great Northern railroad. Jack Caufield May Be Next Marshall PORTLAND, Aug. 20 W) The appointment of Jack Cau field as next U. S. marshal for Oregon appeared probable today. A car driven by Ross Gllklson 1420 East Main street of Klam ath Falls, was one of two which struck a motorcycle late Bstur day night on the Pacific highway near Jackson Hot Springs. Tha right front fender of the car, which was traveling north struck the motorcycle, also going north. Following this, a car drlv en by William Blackburn of Aslv land, struck the motorcycle and went Into a ditch. Gllklson said the cycle swerved In front of his car Just as he started to pass It, Dale Emerson Crouse, 17, of Phoenix, who was riding on the cycle, was confined In an Aslv land hospital with a fracture of hla left leg, and head, hip and arm abrasions suffered In the ac cident. The driver of the motor cycle, Vorlyn DuBois Thomas, also 17, received only a bump on tha head and was able to go home after the collision.
