Casey, ranchers on Whiskey creek, near Bcolty. William C. Walker, recently recovered from a broken wrist, received an Injury Friday which resulted In a second break In the first Injury. Walker is a promin ent rancher of Sprague River. Dell Smith and family have moved to the Levi Walker ranch on Whiskey creek, where Smith Is engaged In the cattle business. Rosclind Riddle enjoyed a weekend with her mother, Mrs Elsie Riddle and family. Miss Riddle has been studying bus iness courses In Klamath Falls for the past few months. Cordon Phllllpson and Robert Wilson, of Beatty left Sunday morning to enjoy a two-week camping trip with the Junior po lice at Lake o' the Woods. Former Governor on Active Naval Duty U. S. NAVAL HEADQUAR TERS IN THE SOUTH PACIFIC, Aug. 10 (IT) Lt. Cmdr. Harold E. Stassen, former governor of Min nesota and republican leader, to day was on active duty here as flng secretary and personal aide to Admiral William F. Halsey, fleet commander In the South Pacific. In his first meeting with war correspondents, Cmdr, Stassen shied from political discussions declaring "There must be single ness of purpose in the 'armed forces. Soon after arriving at his post he suffered infection In a foot. Recovered from that, he con tracted pneumonia with a recur rence of the illness after he was able to be up. Then came orders for his unit to' move to Denver and two days before tho sched uled leave, young Ratliff turned up in the hospital with an attack of appendicitis. Mrs. Ratliff went south to be with him and upon arriving homa reported him much Improved, Harry Hundley left Tuesday for Texas where he will train at a naval air base. Ho Is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hund ley. Mrs, John Ratliff, newly- elected president of tha Helping Hand society will entertain the members at an all duy meeting Wednesday, August 11. . ' Three Killed in Bus-Truck Crash NELSON, B. C Aug. 10 (P) Three women were killed and four persons slightly Injured in the collision yesterday of a log ging truck and a Nelson-Trail bus. WAR KITCHEN ' MAKE YOURSELF A 8POT OF NAIt CHOY HAR DON By OAYNOR MADDOX Combine fresh eggs, shrimp and sprouted soybeans into a Chinese omelet for dinner. Mar Chor Har Den (Sprouted Soybean Omelet) (Serves 4-1) Two cups sprouted soybeans, 1 cup boiling water, 4 strips ba con, 1 pound raw shrimp, 13 cup scalliona or onions, steamed soybeans, 6 unbeaten eggs, 4 ta blespoons oil or fat. In a saucepot with a tight-fitting cover, place the soybeans and boiling water. Steam until tender about 10 minutes. Drain well. Dice the bacon and place in heated 10-Inch frying pan and brown over moderate heat. Remove from pan and place In mixing bowl. Clean and dice shrimp and cook In fat In frying pan. Remove from pan and place in mixing bowl. Finely chop the scalllons or onions and place in mixing bowl. Add the soybeans and eggs and mix all In gredients together lightly. Place the oil or fat in a hot 10-lnch fry ing pan. Dip omelet mixture by large spoonsful onto heated pan. Cook over moderate heat until golden brown on one side about 3 min utes. Then turn with a pancake turner and brown on other side. Nar Cher Hung Yek (Pork and Sprouted Soybeans) One quarter cup almonds, 2 tablespoons oil or fat, 2 tea spoons salt, 1 pound lean pork, 2 cups sprouted soybeans, 2 cups carrots, 1 green pepper, 2 ta- blesnoona cornstarch. 2 tah1J spoons cornstarch, 2 tablespoons soy sauce, 13 cup cold water. Blanch and chop the almonds. Cook in a few tablespoons of oil or fat until golden brown. Drain and set aside. In a preheated 10-inch frying pan place the oil or fat and salt. Cut the pork In to thin slices and add. Cook over moderate heat until golden brown. Add the soybeans. Clean the carrots, and slice di agonally in t-inch thick alices and add. Cut green pepper in 1- inch pieces and add. Cover fry ing pan and cook over low heat for 10 minutes. Blend together and add the cornstarch, soy sauce, and water, Stir constantly until the Juice thickens and the mixture Is very hot. Add the almonds. Serve Immediately with hot boiled lice.
