Aujtuit 6. 194 HERALD -AND NEWS. KLAMATH FALLS, OREGON PAGE FOURTEEN L TO Commander G. A. Krause has ordered complete mobilization of 11 civilian defense units at 7:30 O'clock tonight. The heads of all public works divisions will assemble all avail able manpower in there respect ive divisions, at their home plants, or other designated points. Division chiefs shall then report total men available for their divisions to the public works chief or his assistant at the control center. All departmental chiefs should make an effort to get out his men 100 per cent and report as aoon as possible. Public works divisions consist of electric pow er, water, steam, gas, city and county road repair and decon tamination crews. No equip ment is to be used for this mob ilization, although equipment should always be ready and lo cated in a convenient area in case of an emergency. All chiefs of above depart ments are instructed to comply with our commanders orders. While public works crews would be called "with equipment" only in event of attack or emergency, every chief should see that his manpower and equipment are ready. In this way we can do our part In the clearing of blocked roads, repair of broken wire, water mains, steam and gas lines and decontamination of gassed areas. City Library Rooms Being Redecorated v Redecorating has been started at the city library with the rooms being closed for the rest of this week. Walls are being painted, floors waxed, and the whole li brary is receiving a general cleaning. The library will open again on Monday with all books due on August 5, ,6, and 7, now due on August 9, 10, and 11. . There are 11,500 parts re quired for a center fuselage section and nose section of the Martin medium bomber. S Great Britain Consider Recognition 1 Of French Committee WASHINGTON, Aug. W) The United States and Great Britain were reported Thursday to be considering recognition, formal though perhaps limited, of the French committee of na tional liberation. "" The British government t re plied yesterday to an American communication of July 21, it was learned, and the response is re ceiving urgent consideration. The United States government opened discussions with the British government June 18. im mediately after Tunisia's fall. BECK'S OPERATES UKEVIEW BAKERY Beck's bakeries of Klamath Falls have purchased the Lake- view bakery and began operation of the bakery the first of the month, Glen Jones, manager of Beck's, said today. The new unit will be under the supervision of Jones, who has been manager of Beck's in Klam ath Falls for the past seven years. Jones announced that the same personnel would continue to serve the Lakeview public. The bakery was purchased from Vic Hahner, who had own ed the bakery for the past 21 years. OBITUARY GERALD RAY HIBBARD Gerald Ray Hibbard, a life long resident of Klamath Falls, passed away at Portland, Ore., on August 6, 1943. Gerald Ray was born at Klamath Falls and was aged 7 years, 10 months and 23 days when called. He is sur vived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Myrtham R. Hibbard; two brothers, Kenneth and James; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. H. Hibbard and Mrs. Otis Cogs well, all of Klamath Falls; his grandfather, Mr. Alex Harpe of Bend, Ore., and a great grand mother, Mrs. Alice Crumm of Elk Creek, Calif. The remains will rest at Wards Klamath Fu neral Home upon their arrival from Portland, Ore. Funeral ar rangements will be announced Saturday. Peter Krug, German air man whose previous escape from a Canadian prison camp led to the conviction of treason of Max Stephen, Detroit' rcstauranteur, has been recaptured after an es cape on Monday night It was announced today that he had been recaptured at the Canadian Pacific railway station at North Bay. He escaped last Monday night from a prison camp near Gravenhurst.; An alert sergeant of the Can adian provost corps ended Lt. Krug's brief period of freedom. Sgt. M. DcVine recognized Krug, who has been involved in several escapes from prison camps, at the railway station at 2 a. m. today and arrested him, but it was six hours later before Krug admitted his identity under questioning at the police station. Carrying a registration card under the name of "Michael Las novitch" and giving a northern Ontario address, Krug was wear ing a navy blue peaked cap, khaki trousers and a white shirt. He also wore a hand-sewn belt which contained a small amount of English currency. He carried a considerable amount of con centrated food. Believed to have been wearing swimming shorts at the time of his escape Mon day, Krug declined to say where he obtained his clothes.
