To Hollywood, 4-1; Podroi . , Tog Seals for 4 to 3 Win Br Th Associated Press A sixth-Inning explosion that netted six runs after there were two men out clinched an 8 to 1 victory for the fourth place Seat tle Rainiers in the opening game of their Pacific Coast Baseball league series with seventh place 1 Oakland last nigm. The blast, started with a triple by Len Gabrlelson and a double from the bat of Hal Sucme drove Jack Lott from the Acorn mound. . He was replaced by Italo Chelini, who was touched for a double and four singles before retiring the side. Oakland scored its loan tally in the fourth. Third place Portland opened the other northern series by los ing a 4 to 1 decision to the Holly wood Stars and dropping down to below .800 in the percentage column, leaving Los Angeles and San Francisco alone above the 80 per cent line. Ronnie Smith held the Beav ers to five hits, while the Stars were nicking Jack Wilson and Earl Cook for 11 blows. The game was tied 1 to 1 at the end of the seventh, but the Stars clicked for two in the eighth and another in the ninth. In the only other league game Sacramento reversed its season long jinx of one-run losses and tagged the second place San Francisco Seals with a 4 to 3 victory when Bill Ramsey sin gled in the final run in the ninth inning. The other league series will open in Los Angeles today with a double header between the An gels and the San Diego Padres. Russ Peters Plays Shortstop for Cleveland Indians NEW YORK. Gas Rationing Offers Problem In Antelope Hunt SACRAMENTO, July 27 (JP) Five hundred Californians are going to get permits to hunt antelope August 13, when the second state antelope lottery is held here, but how are they going to get the gas to go a hunting providing they are lucky in the draw? That question was posed to day as it became apparent that the state s first antelope season under gas rationing offers more problems than appear at first blush. The season is scheduled from September 11 to 20 and is con fined to Modoc and Lassen, two of the northernmost counties in the state. Yet of the approxi mate 3100 applications for ante lope permits so far received by the state fish and game com mission,' the majority are from persons living in central and southern California much far ther away than the pleasure driving distances allowed under rationing.
