Mrs. Bryant was accompanied on her trip by her daughter, Maribel. Guest Mrs. Frank Jennings of San Francisco, is a summer guest of Mrs. Leslie Rogers of 851 Pacific Terrace. Mrs. Jen nings will be remembered as the former Mollette Reams Jennings and lived here year ago. She is a member of a pioneer Klam ath family. Transferred Yeoman 3c Jim Watson, who has been at the navy recruiting office for the past 10 months, has received orders to report to Portland for duty. Yeoman Watson will leave Sunday. In Lo AngtlM Dick Blohm left here last weekend for Los Angeles where he will join Earl Reynolds Jr., who has been in the south since about June 1. Both boys are taking eye treat ments there. The homes aro non-sectarian Christian insti tutions with religious services for those of tho (iris who wish to attend. The girls aro taught con structive work, sent to business colleges, etc., and Mrs. Smith said that the work is showing very gratifying results with practically all cases getting Jobs and rehabilitating themselves upon their release. A Labor-Management Group Formed in Lumber Industry WASHINGTON, June 23 7P) Creation of a labor-management advisory committee for the west coast lumber industry was an nounced today by J. Philip Boyd, director of tho lumber and lum ber products division of the war production board (WPB). Headed by Lewis H. Mills, one timo president of the Pacific Logging Congress and recently named consultant to the lumber division of WPB, the committee is expected to take "positive and prompt action" on problems be setting tho industry. Including shortages of skilled labor in the woods and working and living conditions which affect produc tion. Labor representatives of the group are Bert Slceman of the United Brotherhood of Carpen ASKED TO MEET All members of the Klwanis club are to be present at the meeting Thursday noon, it was announced by Kiwanis officials today. Telegrams are being sent to out-of-town members so that there will be 100 per cent attend ance. Past presidents in charge of the 100 per cent attendance are Elmer Balsigcr, Percy Murray and Dr. Gcorgo Massey. Present at the meeting will be representatives of the various communities which are contest ants in the' June bond drive. Rudy Vallee to End Radio Programs For Coast Guard HOLLYWOOD, Calif., June 23 UP) The National Broadcast ing company has announced that Rudy Vallee, radio and film singer, will end his radio programs July 1 in order to assume extra duties with the coast guard, in which he is bandmaster with a chief petty officer's rating. Vallee, stationed at Wilming ton, Calif., has contributed his radio show salary to the coast guard welfare fund since his enlistment a year ago. He join ed the navy when 17 to serve in the first world war. CIO Starts Drive In Aluminum Plants PORTLAND, Ore., June 23 (IP) The CIO announced an or ganizational drive today in Pa cific Northwest aluminum plants. The Industry has a big fu ture and the CIO is anxious to organize as many workers as possible for that reason, said N. A. Zonarlch, New Kinsing ton, Pa., president of the CIO Aluminum Workers. Zonarich said his union won a recent election at the Alum inum Reduction plant at Spo kane, and was hopeful of win ning another in the Alcoa plant at Troutdalc, Ore., although re sult of the latter is being held up because of challenged votes.
