day made another descent to
lowest levels since mid-day
without unsettling sentiment to
any noticeable extent or touch
ing off Important selling.
Trends dropped at the start
and, with the ticker tape halt
ing frequently, declines of frac
tions to more than a point
ruled near the close. A few
peace-time favorites managed to
hold their own but even these
failed to make much progress.
Transfers were around 750,
