SALEM, June 16 (P) The state department of agriculture announced today It would hold four hearings to consider the establishment of an intermed iate grade of potatoes. The new grade would be simi lar to the U. S. commercial grade. Such a grade would be in addition to existing grades, and would be permitted only for the duration of the war. The hearings, to be held in the department's office, will be held at Redmond June 21; Klamath Falls June 22, Ontario June 24, and Portland June 28. The Portland meeting will be held at 2 p. m., and the others at 8 p. m. Man Dies in Auto Accident GRANTS PASS, June 17 (JP) John Owing, 64, Grants Pass, is dead and Pete G h o o g h e, about the same age, is in the hospital seriously Injured as the result of an accident on the Murphy road here at 7 o'clock last night when the car in which they were riding with Russell Aubrey Powell and two soldiers failed to make a curve and turned over, rolling 118 feet before It came to rest in the cen ter of the highway. Pastor Away Rve. Bertrand Peterson, pastor of the Church of the Nazarene, has been grant ed a two weeks' leave and is at tending district assemblies in Billings, Mo and Sawyer, N. D. SALEM, June 17 VP) Tht state highway commission said today it would make three trip to confer with county courts on proposed post-war highway con struction plans. The first trip, scheduled fof July 12, will be to meot with courts on tho Columbia highway from Portland to Astoria, on the Oregon Coast highway, and on the Pacific highway from Med ford to Salem. The second trip will be through central Oregon, and tht third will be on the Columbia River highway east of Portland, and in other eastern Oregon districts. John W.
