Tho offlco of price .administra
tion said yesterday eastern sup
pliers of wood pulp allocated to
west coast paper mills by the
war production board will be
permitted to charge the maxi
mum prices established for east
ern deliveries instead of lower
western prices.
The OPA said tho change, ef
fective February 27, wns made to
enable the west coast mills to
obtain wood pulp which Is not
available in the west.
Wood pulp produced In the
western area will continue at
prices $0 a short air dry ton less
than tho maximum prices for de
liveries to mills cast of the Con
tinental divide, exclusive of Denver.

There'll bo no horsemeat ham
burgers for Idaho. '
That Is the opinion of Dr. J.
S. Sorcnson, chief of the state
bureau of animal husbandry,
who reported "there is more
meat on the hoof In Idaho now
than ever before."
In addition, he said, there are
no federally inspected horse
meat packing plants In tho area,
and state laws do not permit
the use of horsemeat In sausage.

LAPJGELL VALLEY
LANCELL VALLEY The
regular meeting of the Langcll
Valley soil conservation district
board of supervisors was held on
February 8, at the Langcll valley
irrigation district office. R. II,
Davis was sworn in as the new
supervisor of the district, to
serve for thrco years.
The board of supervisors de
cided to request the soil conser
vation service to exchange the
SO dicscl tractor for an R. D.-8
with a 12-yard carryall scraper.
The board made this decision be
cause they believe they can ac
complish more land leveling and
conservation work on more
farms.
The district will also have a
Marvin land plane or a large
Eversman lcvclcr to assist farm
ers who have conservation plans
with the district. With this
equipment available on a rental
basis, the district supervisors
hope to assist a larger number of
small farmers accomplish their
objectives In war crops. At the
next regular meeting of the
board of supervisors to be held
at 8 p. m., March 13, the super
visors hope to have a number of
cooperating farmers help them
decide on how to route the
equipment available to give as
many farmers as possible an op
portunity to increase their war
crops this coming year.

Norfolk, Va. Following Is the
letter:
"To begin with It is quite dif
ferent than civilian life. Parts
of it are pretty good and parts
are not so goad, but we must
remember that you can't win
wars with soda pop and ice
cream cones. We hear lots of
crabbing around here but it is
mostly from the young punks
that think the country owes
them n living and came Into this
outfit to beat the draft and now
are sorry of it. This is really a
man's outfit and no place for
cream puffs.
"Incidentally you might tell
Carl Cook when you see him,
that the marines are giving us
our advanced training and they
don't spare the whip. Guess I
was a little soft when I first
came here but I am getting
tougher than a boiled owl. I
can crawl two blocks up and
down hill on my belly with my

rifle in my hand, a whole lot
faster than a grasshopper can,
and you should see me root
through mud holes. Lots of fun,
especially the washing clothes
afterwards. My field shoes
haven't been dry for one and one
half weeks.
