Miss Grace Phelps, superintendent of the hospital since it was started, has now resigned, and her .successor Is Miss Eleanor Batrd of the University of Minnesota. OF THIS WEEK Due to conditions over which this department, let alone the United States of America and the war depart ment, have little or no con trol, the second community sing has been postponed from this past week to Wednesday, January the twenty-seventh, at half past seven o'clock. The time has been advanced a half hour due to the sing falling on a school night, it was announced by Mr. An drew J. Loney,-who will di rect the program. Families are urged to at tend the gathering which promises to be as interesting as that hold in early Decem ber. Lioness club members will meet for a potluck supper in the library club rooms on . Monday evening, February tho eighth, at which time the group wiU be hostess for Lions .member, . , , COMMANDOS PLAN DANCE FEBRUARY 20 The Commandos, of which Klamath Falls Is justly proud, are nowe working on a new idea. They will sponsor a George Washington dance the evening of Saturday, Febru ary the twentieth, in the armory, all money to go into a fund which the Comman dos will use to bring young service men to this city as a special treat following their hospitalization in the San Francisco bay area. Bernie Heidemann, captain, Is in charge of the affair and will announce her committees later. Mr. and Mrs. Myron Shan non, (Elizabeth Anderson), are parents of their first child, a girl, born at Hillside hospital, January the nineteenth. The little one Is named Carol Elizabeth. Lieut, (jg) Shannon is now on duty with the United States navy in Norfolk, Virginia, 0 Miss Jepson Scheduled La,st of Concert Ar tists Slated for Peli can March 5 ;. Friday evening, March the fifth, is a long way off but members of ' the Klamath Community Concert associa tion are asked to check their calendars for that date as the third of a scries of concerts will be presented in the Peli can theatre. This time that glamorous lady of the stage, Helen Jep son, will be the guest and if you've seen pictures of her you'll not give a hang whether she can sing or not, she's so good to look at. Several Klamath folks heard Miss Jepson in Salem last spring when she sang un der the concert association banner in that fair city. Miss Jepson is a luscious ice cream soda blonde with as pretty a pair of shoulders you'll find outside Esquire magazine. That particular night she wore a flaming red silk jer sey gown, made with what seemed to be millions of yards in the skirt, long snug sleeves and a most interesting "boat line" at the deep throat which added something! When she left the stage following each group of numbers, the skirt puffed and billowed out in a fetching manner and caused many a gasp from the fashion conscious crowd. Her hair is honey colored and most beautiful. The lady can also sing. , Miss Lillian Davis, daughter, of Mr. and Mrs. George Da vis, is expected to return home Sunday from Seattle, Washington where she has been visiting. 0mm 4 4' '.HA T Snowball Dance Is Scheduled Tonight Order of DeMolay to Entertain in Willard Hotel Ballroom at Annual Party ; . i . . , An affair of great Interest to members of the younger sei is the annual Snowball dance sponsored by the Order of DeMolay and scheduled for this evening, Saturday, in the ball room of the Willard hotel. At half past ten o'clock there will be a grand march, and the Sweetheart of De Molay, Miss Joanne Hamilton, will be crowned by the Mat ter Councillor of the order, Phil Blqhm. The crown is a wreath of white carnations. The Sweetheart will be at tended by her four princesses, Miss Wanda Shaw, Miss Ro berta Tucker, Miss Christine Demetrakos and Miss Barbara Palmer. The ballroom will be decor ated with a profusion of ever greens and many blue lights. The stage, where the crown ing will take place, will be banked with greens. Don Robin is chairman and Jimmy Noel, co-chairman, of the dance committee, and ; Bruce Beano was decorating chairman. ' Programs issued before the dance used the DeMolay colors of blue and gold, with a blue cover, the DeMolay ' crest printed In gold, .
