New Pine Creek
Mr. and Mrs. Duron Thorne
and family, who have been liv
ing in the Orville Haney house
for several months, left for
Groveton, Tex., on Thursday.
Thorne has a farm in Texas,
which has been rented, and the
family expect to live there on
their return.
The regular meeting of the
Kelly Creek Parent-Teachers as
sociation was held at the school
house on Friday. The members
were glad to learn that the wir
ing has been completed on the
schoolhouse and that as soon as
permission is received from
Washington, D. C, the lights may
be turned on. There is a pos
sibility that this permission will
be withheld until after the war.
Plans were made for another
benefit dance to be held in the
near future, in order to secure
enough funds to finish paying
for the installation of the lights
Elmer Addington celebrated
his eighth birthday at a big
party held at Gus Dorings' home
on Sunday. Fourteen children
attended and reported a pleasant
afternoon. . Many games were
played, and the guests were
treated to fruit salad and birth
day cake. v ,
Roy Sweet has purchased the
F, M. Green home, and expects
to move there as soon as de
tails of the transaction can be
completed. Mr. and Mrs. Sweet
and son Alton have been living
for several months in -the Mack-
ey home.
Mrs. Ella Oliver left on the
stage Tuesday morning for
Stockton, Calif., where she ex
pects to visit her daughter, Ida
tor some time.
The chickenpox epidemic is

Creek. New cases reported this
week include Eugene and Ros-
elia Ross, and Eileene Newman
daughter of Sam Newman..
Artie V. Reed has sold his in
terest in the Shamrock to his
partner, Gordon Patterson. Reid
is planning on working- in a de
fense plant.
