mittee believes Oregon ship
yards should be checked for
manpower wastes.

Bridge to Get Some Boots
PORTLAND, Jari. 7 (!) An
Oregon farmer, faced with tho
daily chore of crossing a river
to get to Ills horses, asked his
rationing board for a pair of
rubber boots.
This, said James M. Mount,
stato OPA rationing official, Is
what occurred after his request:
The rationing board said no,
that ho did not qualify for boots
under the regulations. The board
suggested he build a bridge and
he wouldn't need the boots.
That the farmer did. But
when it was only partially fin
ished he Informed his rationing
board that he needed some boots
to complete the Job.
The board ruled that as a
bridgcbuilder he qualified. They
granted him the boots.

Night classes in commercial
subjects for adults will be In
creased at Klamath Union high
school. It was announced by H.
O. Palmer, head of the commer
cial department.
The new classes will cover
typing, bookkeeping, shorthand
and oUlce machines Including
manual and electrical calculators
and dictaphone.
They will be held Mondays
and Wednesdays at 7:30 p. m.
Response of local people to
the organization of a typing etas
recently led to the formation
of the new classes. A small fee
will be charged. Those Inter
ested should meet at ths high
school at 7:30 p. m. Monday.

forms, whether as structural ma
terials, wood pulp and fibrous
products, chemicals and deriva
tives or plaNtlc materials, com
pany officials said today. C. G,
Heritage, who directed similar
work In a wood conversion plant
at Cioquct, Minn., heads the
laboratory.
Six separate laboratory work
shops, fully equipped, aro lo
catud on the second floor. Spe
cial rooms Include a workshop
for tho "home" manufacture 01'
"gadgets," a balunco room for
fine weighing, an oven room and
constant temperature and hu
midity rooms.
When fully staffed, the labora
tory will require the full time
services of 30 men. The build
ing Is of modem stylo architec
ture, of the newest types of
wood construction.
