Grlgsby, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Grimes and son Jimmy, and Mrs. Ida Grimes.. Following dinner, Mrs. Brown and Jimmy Grimes went to Portland for a few days' visit with the Basil Brown and the Faith Grimes' families. They will also visit with Elizabeth Sanders and daughter Jane, who now reside inthe northern city. : There were numerous Christ mas get togethers in the Olene community. The A. L. Marshalls had as their guests, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Marshall and three chil dren. Mr; and Mrs. Curtis Geb hardt had Christmas dinner at Fred Reilings and the Sullivan and High families spent the day at the Rex High home. Mr. and Mrs. Marion Barnes attended a family dinner at the W. B. Barnes' home in Klamath Falls. On New Year's eve there will be a potluck dinner and watch party at the Olene grange hall Dinner will' be 'served at 7:30 p. m., and' members and fami lies are cordially invited. " Oliver Kinney was a weekend visitor at Rowe Kinney's. ;Averil and Blllie Garriott are spending- the week- at f the Barnes'-home, as' Mrs. Garriott is working this week at the Ha zel beauty shop. Nona Master., now attending school at OSC,. spent the holi days with her parents, the Stan ley Mastens. . .- t Afiss -Mary Tipton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Tipton, spent Christmas at her parents' home; Miss Tipton resides in Lakeview. . . : Mr.- and Mrs. Buster .Adams and Mrs. Louis Robins visited Monday evening at the A. L. Marshall home. The Adams live at Westpoint, Calif. Cascade Snow hasi fallen each day for the past five days and as there is no let-up in sight, it is be lieved before the storm breaks the snow will be up to the roofs of the houses here.. . . . Mrs. Lowell Hall went to Portland Saturday and is visit ing at the home of her aunt. 'Leo James Gallegoes is in the Eugene hospital, where he un derwent a mastoid operation. . Wayne Holt was removed to the Good Samaritan hospital in Portland. He became ill Thurs day and was unable to work as telegrapher in the Southern Pa cific station here. J. R.' Spur geon and Vernon Lucas worked his shift two evenings. , . Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Porter had as their guests for Christmas dinner, Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Hall and Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Ugstad arid son Douglas. Roland Porter Jr., is home from Seattle for the holidays. He expects to be inducted into the army shortly after the new year. Miss Firestone, teacher here, spent Chriitmas vacation with her parents in Ashland. On ac count of the school starting later than it should this fall, the vaca tion was shortened so that the term will end sooner. A pro gram was held Wednesday after noon. Word has been received that Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Nagel are living at Moses Lake, Wash. Na gel is working or. a government project in the vicinity. Mrs. Carl Dolynook, former Cascade Summit resident, will undergo an operation in the Eu gene hospital shortly after the new year. Mrs. Man-in Ugstad will give a party New Year's evening. On account of the wreck at Wicopee, the trains were re-routed over the Ashland route. Miss Firestone, who was returning from her Christmas vacation, was unable to get here by train Sunday night and was compelled to travel by bus to the mainte nance station on the highway. Roy Temple met her there with a boat. . , Poe Valley ' Mrs. Joe Nork entertained the following at dinner on Christinas day: Mr. and Mrs. Ted Maelas- son and son Phillip, of Keno, Mr. and Mrs. Victor Nork and sons of Chiloquin. and Louise and -Dale Van Meter of Sargent street, Klamath Falls. Louis and Warren Moore were callers at the Benedict home on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Nork and John, went to Klamath Falls Fri day evening to be present at a Christmas tree gathering at the home of Mr. and Mrs. McCarver Mra. Pauline Roberts enter tained with luncheon on Chriit mas for Mr. and Mrs. Bloom berg and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Roberts and daughter Joy, all of Klamath Falls. Max Benedict Is home for Christmas vacation, on furlough irom the army.. . . . Chet Barton is having some of j his hay baled this week. j Congratulations are being ex- j tended to Mr. and Mrs. Paul Breithaupt on the birth of a baby gin. This is their first child. Lincoln " The children of the North Pinehurst school gave a Christmas-play -Wednesday night. Mr. and Mrs. Owen Pepple and sons entertained Mr. and Mrs. Howard Pepple of Seattle, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Turner and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Zick and Larry, all of Algoma, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Pepple and Bob and Mrs. Cleda Wells at dinner on Christmas day. Mrs. Evelyn Hoyt of Klamath Falls spent Christmas with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Campbell. Clinton Corpening of Portland visited his mother, Mrs. John Horn, last week. Ben Nork, who returned last Saturday to his home after a serious illness, suffered a relapse and is again in the hospital in Klamath Fails. Protsman, dur ing her Christmas vacation, Slia received two weeks' vacation j from her classes at Oregon State college. She returned last Sun 'day evening in time to report 'tor classes Monday morning. Ed Patzke is now employed in the shipyards at Portland. While there he is living with his sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. J a m e Boyd. Patzke is an employe of the Ivory Tine mill and received a temporary release to work In Portland for three months. He will return to Bly in the spring as soon as the weather permits the I u in b e r mills to operate again. The Coke residence was the scene of a large dinner party held on Christmas evening. Present were Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Protsman and daughter Janet. Mrs. Wade Jenkings and daughters Cora Mae and Wi dene, Mrs. James Hall and daughter Adrienne, Jay Hart ling, Johnny Loomis and Alfred, Ernest and Marie Coke. A the atre party followed the dinner. Bonita Gooch has opened a small shop, "Bonita's Gift shop," in what used to be the Biy drug store. It has been open for almost two weeks, but she plans to close it soon; she is headed for a more vital occupa tion in a defense factory. Kenneth Kester,. Carl Madi son, D u a n e Gibson and Dale Smith returned from Burns last week. They have completed their jobs there and will be leaving for Montana the first part of January. They are em ployed by E. The newly-wedded couple re turned north the first of this week to report back to their Jobs. Both are employed In de fense factories. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Kester, Mr. and Mrs. George Beck and daughter Kay,- and Jill Givan, were all guests at a Christmas dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charley Hitchkock Friday afternoon. After dinner the guests played bridge and pi nochle. New Pine Creek A New Year's dance is slated for this Thursday evening, De cember 31, sponsored by the East Side grange. The public Is cordially invited and every one will have a chance to dance the old year out and the new year In.
