first action on it was delayed for
week by common consent of
the councllmen.
f This ordinance would prohibit
ny person from entering upon
residential property to leave any
handbill or pamphlet, or to play
ft phonograph record, without
being invited thcrccn by the
property owner.

the ordinance Monday night, but
delay it a week. At next week's
meeting, an ordinance imposing
it iicense fee of $5 on pamphlet

the Jehovahites, and replaces a
similar ordinance imposing a $10

Railroad association asked that
action be taken to require stops

Councilman Bussman objected

posed local ordinance.
The council adopted an agree
ment between the city and the
Standard Oil company,' making
the Standard's lease of certain
airport facilities inferior to that
f a contemplated lease of the
airport by the federal govern
ment. Standard has a month-to-month
lease at the field, where it
has ' gas tanks and pumping
equipment. Under - terms of
agreement, Standard's lease
Would be suspended for the life
at the government lease, al
though Standard would continue
to serve private aircraft.

was read from the army - engi
neers at Portland, disclosing that
the secretary of war and the civ
il aeronautics authority - are
working out a new lease for
municipal airports such as that
at Klamath Falls. Some time
ago the army proposed a lease

it. The new proposal, when

The noon hour activities are
getting underway with the boys
participating ' in touch football
on Modoc field.' The halls are
full of girls and boys standing
around waiting for the' bell to
ring and with, nothing to do.- It
is felt that something could -be
found for the majority to do' in
their spare time, cleaning the
halls and providing - something
worthwhile at the same time.
Noon dances haven't been tried
yet this year, but possibly Jf
enough students requested them
and turned out for them, (boys,
too), they might be considered.
Have you been by the exhibit
case this week? The Art club
has mounted pictures drawn by
the girls and boys who wish to
become members of that organi
zation. It is the wise thing to
watch the exhibit case, for many

To Separate
HOLLYWOOD, Sept. 29 (ff)
Ann Sheridan and George Brent
of the movies are separating.
Brent came here Monday from
Oxnard, Calif., where he Is a ci
vilian air corps instructor, and
announced that he and Ann
would go their separate ways
hereafter.
Brent said the matter of "an
immediate divorce" had not been
discussed and that there was a
possibility, however remote, that
they might be reunited. Both
are under contract to Warner
Brothers studio.
"This is an entirely amicable
separation," Brent told news
men. "It is because by divergent
interests of our separate careers."
Brent and the red-haired Ann
were married last January lit
Palm Beach, Flo., after a ro
mance of more than a year.
